  • Taliban 70 Miles From Islamabad!

    Imagine the Taliban with nukes...

Bet the Yanks wished they'd finished off the job in Afghanistan instead of opening up a 'second front' in Iraq...
Is it me, or is MOBIUS a horrible person?

I've heard 60 on the BBC. That's for scouts though.

Pity the Brits gave up Pakistan.

This used to be their sphere of influence before they just gave up.

Time to nuke Pakistan before the Taliban gets Pakistan's nukes. Then we can all sit and enjoy the after glow.

This is actually an interesting discussion.

What does the US (or "West" if you prefer) do in such an event?

The other thread is marginally better (it starts with an article).

Pakistan is beyond pathetic. They have one of the largest armies in the region but there too ***** to go after a few Pashtuns. They should do what Russia did in Chechnya and flood the area with security forces and troops.

Crapistan's missile delivery system for nuclear weapons is limited to Asia and probably some of Eastern Europe. We don't have to worry about it as much. Let India and China deal with their kindly new neighbors.

A more likely scenario, most of the components will become non-functional over time since you can't learn anything about the maintenance of nuclear weapons from the Quran or a Madrassa.

They are, for some reason, still certain that India will invade, which is why they keep their troops on their eastern border, completely blind to the fact that the true threat is the Islamists.

It's much harder to defend the east since the partition.

I don't know how effective this would be but the US could also considering dropping a bunch of EMP bombs on Pakistan's military installations. The nuclear materials would still be there but the weapons themselves would become inert?

I think that if the Pakistani government falls to Talibs, India will immediately strike preemptively.

Pakistan's problem isn't that they can't militarily defeat the Taliban. The problem is they are trying to prevent the Taliban from unleashing an all out bombing campaign in the cities. The Taliban are capable of seriously destabilizing Pakistan. The Taliban, however, have no chance to take over Pakistan.

67 miles according to BBC. Not to mention the fact that they are considerably closer to the main Peshawar - Islamabad highway. Apparently they also blew up a bunch of trucks with supplies for Nato in their newly acquired territory...

The locals wanted to resist the Talibs, but the govt were too spineless to send any reinforcements. Seems like a govt ripe for toppling to me.

That's because you're incapable of independent thought. Is it that hard to actually use your brain and discuss this topic rather than relying on some cut and paste article...?
