Last night there were high waves which is not usual and darkness which is. I went swimming and the ocean in the darkness becomes like another medium. It was delightful!

The obvious suddenly occurred to be last night. The $15,000 price estimate Tito gave me only includes the house. The cost of the seawall, the laundry room, and the circumference wall will probably about double this, to say, around $30,000. The realization came as kind of a shock--but it's not a problem really because $30,000 is just about where I guessed it would be in the beginning.

I understand completely from my project. On mine after the wall was built I had to hire trucks to bring load upon load of fill dirt and limestone to bring the property up to level. While you won't have much of that little detail your property is a fair bit larger which means a longer wall... Everything is cheap here but when you're going full bore on a project you have to sometimes remind yourself of that. Maybe put a note on puter 'This would cost a million in the US'.




Though your wall will be higher than this the fill is largely there already. Speaking of higher this wall has definitely grown. I think they're watering it or something.

Q: Did all that framing wood come from the few trees that you had to cut down or did you have to bring in outside lumber?

Besides the roof and the addition to the wall there's not much work wise to photograph. The roof was the biggy.

It looks like that tree is going to be in the way of a gate right off the laundry room.

I envisioned a gate a lot like the large one on your beachhouse -- a double wide through which I can drive a car, if I decide to get one.

The gate does NOT have to be right next to the laundry room. But, IIRC, there's a big patch of ground over that way with no trees on it. It would seem to be the logical place to put a gate.
