Stopped at a house on the way yesterday to take pics of this roof design which I heartily endorse to cut aircon electric bills.

Will do, we'll get one in there between the trees.Originally posted by Zkribbler View PostIt looks like that tree is going to be in the way of a gate right off the laundry room.
I envisioned a gate a lot like the large one on your beachhouse -- a double wide through which I can drive a car, if I decide to get one.
The gate does NOT have to be right next to the laundry room. But, IIRC, there's a big patch of ground over that way with no trees on it. It would seem to be the logical place to put a gate.
Allot of the wood came from your trees but whether Sho had Theresa to buy more...
Reminds me, we have a good sized pile at our place and you're going to need a ton of the stuff. It's nowhere near enough I think, but it will help. Glad to donate it and get a like amount back when we're done.

My wood is your wood.Originally posted by Lancer View Post...Glad to donate it and get a like amount back when we're done.
...which reminds me of another question I have. Say, I want to add an outbuilding sometime later and have it attached to the circumference wall--like a storage room for lumber, etc. Is it difficult to later attach a brick structure to the wall?

Nah, that's a metal roof. What you should consider is the big vent on top. Here in the Phils they're big on vented eves but they don't put a vent at the peak to allow the heated air to do what it wants to do, rise out of the house. This place is the answer to that. That big vent on top will cool the enclosed roof area over your house and cut the heat radiation down onto your garden.Originally posted by Zkribbler View PostIs that roof made of the "concrete board" stuff Tito was talking about?
Also all that heat contained can do nasty stuff to any wood up there though come to think of it I'm sure all that up there will be metal which is big here now for structural roof members.Long time member @ Apolyton

Wood deal is done.
These negociations are killin me dude!
No problem attaching something later, takes some extra labor is all.
When you hire labor in huge great gobs like you're doing now it seems like allot. When you hire a guy later for a few days to prepare a surface to accept a new outbuilding, that's nothing much.
There, now I've told Poly's top labor guy about labor.

In fact when the old salacot comes down at my place I'm thinking of an outbuilding in that corner for construction stuff and the cement mixer below, and access for wood storage above. That big old cement mixer just won't do getting in all my pretty pics!Originally posted by Zkribbler View Post
Roger, Wilco!
I'd guessed as much, but I just wanted to make sure.
