It's the labor that's the big savings. There, I'm getting an entire crew for far less than I'd pay one construction worker here in the U.S.

My architect Tito estimates that the house will cost about $15,000. It's going to be ~ 1500 square feet (not counting the rooftop garden), two stories with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. I don't have an expert estimate on the cost of everything else (the seawall, the circumference wall, and the laundry room), but my best guess is that these things will cost another $15,000.

The land, I'm leasing from Dolores because non-Filapinos are not allowed to own land.

Do they celebrate the Day of the Dead in Phillippines? (Or is that just a Catholic holiday reserved for Latin America?)

They do have ceremonial burial if that helps answer your question.

I believe that the Day of the Dead is only celebrated in Latin America.

Zkrib, I already told Theresa about this but you can nix it if you want. I'm having Tina to work a Saturday or two with Malou after the computer is there up and running on the internet. That way Tina can get pointers on cooking for a crew and Malou can be taught by Tina about taking, uploading and posting pics. So, there will be a little double billing in the cooking department.

BTW: The jigsaw's on the way! As well as a couple of dead laptops which Aeson my be able to resurrect [I put an explanation of what's wrong with each in with them], and some computer games and paperbacks you can store for me. You can play the games if you can tear yourself away from Civ. IV.
