I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

It was pretty good, better then Civ3 anyway, but it just didn't seem to make me want to keep playing the way Civ2 did. I played it for a while, even online with people like Rah, but couldn't really get into it.

I haven't been interested in the mods. But there's a fantasy mod, huh? Interrrresting.

IV > II > I > III In my opinion
                    I concur.

Sid Meier's Awesome Civilization? It's there all right (just not the last one).

                          SMAC > SMAC 2

In most cases, I move my units, end my turn, and then do whatever city maint I can while waiting for the other players to finish their turn.
Yes, and I always get screwed over fiddling with city production when my turn starts!

I haven't tried Civ4 at all. Is it really worth the switch? I still play and enjoy civ2.

Civ IV BtS is lightyears better than Civ. II.

4 has many more layers of complexity, especially if you come to it directly from 2 (as I did). I found the jump to be very challenging: lots of ingrained habits to be unlearned, but LOTS more potential for creative strategic thinking. It's a clearly superior game design, and IMHO every bit as engaging/fun.
