I'll give him the full first term because the complete epic fail of the Bush administration is simply so massive it is going to require years to fix it. One simply cannot restore the country, hell the world, from the Republican made disaster without years of hard work.Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.

I sincerely doubt that you'd see a 40-60 split regardless of party for black folks. Are you telling me that if the republicans ran a black man against Kerry that it would be a 90 percent vote for Kerry? Do you believe that 40 percent of black folks would ever vote against a black person running for president?

Look Ben, black voters vote for Democrats over Republicans because they (correctly) know that the Republicans have little to no regard for them. The Republican party has branded itself, quite deliberately, in a way that makes it really really hard for them to convince a black voter to give them his or her vote. The Dems at least pretend to care, and occasionally really try to help. Could they do a better job? Is the Pope catholic?

That is the only thing I was really discussing. I think the most substantial problem that emerged from the Great society is illegitimacy.
Only you would think that the government offering welfare money would lead to more sex.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

So, to answer your final question, yes I absolutely believe that.
Of course, he also lost to Obama 92-8 among blacks statewide in Illinois in 2004.
Yep, blacks sure must love Alan Keyes. If only the GOP ran more candidates like him!Last edited by Rufus T. Firefly; January 21, 2009, 15:34."I have as much authority as the pope. I just don't have as many people who believe it." — George Carlin

I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

So, by your reasoning, Ben, if it had been Hillary that got the Dem nod, she would have got 16% of the black vote.Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.

My point was contained in the first and last sentences: that the dates of the data you linked to doesn't support your contention, and that sort of post calls much of your POV into question.
Forgive me for thinking facts mattered. There was a substantial jump in two categories, women under the age of 24 from 1965 to 1970, faster then the usual rate of increase.
Which would support exactly what I'm saying.
But of course, facts only matter if they agree with you.Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.

You realize that you can look these things up yourself, right? Google "exit poll" and the relevant race.
For starters, the only black Republican elected official of any stature who I can think of (taking stature pretty liberally) is the TX Railroad Commish. Notably, there isn't a single black member of Congress who's a Republican.
Ignoring that Steele's opponent, Cardin had a divisive primary fight with a former head of the NAACP, Mfume, and was a generally lackluster candidate compared to Steele, yeah, he did about 3x better than Bush in his race against noted black man Al Gore.Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.
