Look Ben, black voters vote for Democrats over Republicans because they (correctly) know that the Republicans have little to no regard for them.
Sowell goes into this. Paternalism really isn't about 'caring' for a person's vote. Democrats haven't done anything for black people in 40 years, they don't have to do anything at all. If they vote Democrat at 90 percent, then you pretty much can do whatever you want.

The Republican party has branded itself, quite deliberately, in a way that makes it really really hard for them to convince a black voter to give them his or her vote.
How so? I don't see any evidence for this, the Republican party appointed the first black man to the supreme court, and that was 20 years ago.

The Dems at least pretend to care, and occasionally really try to help. Could they do a better job? Is the Pope catholic?
Republicans were the ones who emancipated the slaves in the first place. Dems were the ones who put them back. Call it what you will about 'parties shifting', but I don't see any evidence that the Republicans have changed. The democrats are just better at selling themselves to the highest bidder.

How is that? People said, oh look, more money... lets have more unprotected sex!!

Only you would think that the government offering welfare money would lead to more sex.
I never said that. Unlike you, I think sex is a big part of marriage.

Having sex out of marriage though, I think is more common if a woman knows the state is going to support her no matter what.

I asked a polite question. If you don't want to support your numbers, then fine.

You can do your own homework.

So it's because the Republicans are Racist?

I wasn't implying that, but a lot of them happen to be.

Still, that shows my point black people regardless of party will do better then white folks of either party, especially republicans.

Your point involved a bull**** 40% figure that demonstrates remarkable ignorance of American politics and history.

Ok, so you're weaseling out of that statement. Your new "point" revolves around the idea that candidates tend to do better in the demographics groups that they fall under? Brilliant insight, that...

That sir, is the only point that I have been trying to make, that Obama was elected because of the colour of his skin rather then the content of his character.

Thread over. Everyone agrees with the 'obvious'.

Yeah, that's the thing. During primaries, black voters changed from ~90% for Clinton to ~90% for Obama as quickly as it became apparent that he was a candidate with a chance to win (look at South Carolina primary polls on the democratic side as a good indicator of this; once Obama won Iowa he became a viable candidate and it was obvious that she'd have no chance at all in SC) Can anyone honestly argue that this was because of policy differences? Can anyone even point out any given policy differences highlighted between Iowa caucuses and Pennsylvania primaries by either of the candidates? Before Iowa idealists were for Obama because he promised to end the Iraq war immediately, but once the primary season truly began, the options presented by both of the candidates were "vote for the white woman" or "vote for the black guy"; "experience" or "change", identity politics at it's ugliest's. An overwhelming majority of black people voted as a block for "their guy". Does anyone think that this sort of trend is good for democracy?

Jesus Ben, are we supposed to take you seriously when you make a mistake so utterly blatant as this?

The first black justice on the Supreme Court was Thurgood Marshall, appointed by Lyndon Baines Johnson (Democrat of Texas) in 1967 - 40 years ago.

In addition to the date of the Obama Holiday, we also need to determine what coin to put Obama's face on. I believe the most symbolically appropriate way to get Obama on a coin would be to replace the picture of the Lincoln Memorial on the back of the penny with Obama, thereby linking Lincoln and Obama for all time.

Good, I was waiting for you to say that.

That's right, 40 years ago. How come there hasn't been one since LBJ? Don't tell me they haven't had the opportunity to do so.

I still remember how the party of openness and tolerance treated Clarence Thomas in his hearing. Absolutely dispicable.

I'd like to see Obama offer an apology to Clarence Thomas for the actions of his own party. That would be bipartisanship.

Alan Keyes also ran for Senator in Maryland. That's part of what made the Illinois run such a joke.

Clarence Thomas is a poor associate justice. There are many far more qualified black jurists out there. That he was chosen was a joke: his nomination should have been turned down.

Also, claiming your mistakes are an attempt to elicit responses is just more bull****.

Twelve of the 14 Justices appointed after Marshall were nominated by a Republican.

I was waiting for someone to bring up Thurgood Marshall, but nobody bit till you did.

                              69 to 11.

                              52 to 48.

Which one would you say was the racist party? I mean come on here. Republicans supported Marshall far more then Democrats supported Clarence Thomas.

Clarence Thomas is a poor associate justice. There are many far more qualified black jurists out there. That he was chosen was a joke: his nomination should have been turned down.
Oh, I suppose you consider Ginsburg eminently qualified? Why is Clarence Thomas a 'token' and an 'uncle tom', while Marshall is 'historic'?

Also, claiming your mistakes are an attempt to elicit responses is just more bull****.
Do you really believe I'd never heard of Thurgood Marshall, given that Thomas was appointed to replace him?
