I'd suggest that you're right, in that the British impressing American sailors was wrong; but I'd also say that was not the reason for the war of 1812, it was simply one reason. The US wanted to annex (part of) Canada, as well.

If the United States would have gone to war with Great Britain in absence of capturing American sailors then I would agree with your point.

Yes. And with the war of 1812, the primary reason was the desire for territorial expansion and the hope Britain was not able to pay attention due to Monsieur Bonaparte... while the stated reason was to avenge our poor merchants being impressed on the seas.
