Sorry. Earlier you seemed to express misgivings about restricting expressions about veterans in a thread for expressions about veterans.

I was merely trying to point out that some of the said expressions could be in very poor taste in some circumstances, and that in the wrong company could lead to physical injury that I would have less than zero sympathy for.

I'd either lay the licking on, or I'd refuse to convict if asked.

In the UK remembrance day does not and never has glorified war, its purpose is to remember those who have died or have to go though the horrors of war.

Certain people here may when they were 16-18 have had the courage of their no doubt well intentioned convictions to refuse to participate in a war. Most who were called up did what they were told and were marked forever by the experiance.

Even if WW1 was entirley the UK's fault then it is still not wrong to remember the people who fought and died.

In the UK entire factories or districts of cities were put in the same battalions -so called pals battalions- when 75% of them were killed or injured for example on the Somme can you even begin to imagine the damage this does to the survivors and their communities.

Yes there are other horrors in the world and these should be remembered and steps should be taken to remedy no end of things going in the world, that does not mean we should not pay respect to those who for whatever reason where obliged to fight for their countries.

for 364 days a year feel free to call all those who fought warmongering puppets of the imperalists, but for just one day is not ok to just think about them and those who did not come back.

Not really. If everyone was a pacifist there would be no war. So if no one fought in wars there would be no war. So if there were no veterens there would be no war.
