Let's all scape goat Obama for all future problems before he's even president. That's a good way to run a business.

We'll see if he even goes through with his promise to tax businesses. Businesses can freeze raises if they like but there's a price to pay for it.

You can't get something for nothing. Whining about paying a little more in taxes for the greater good is for those who hate their country.

Shifting the burden to your employees is even worse.

If people spend their checks then corporations will end up getting it.

The, as measured, unemployment rate is now 6.5%, and increase from 6.1% in September. Unemployment has been a serious problem since the 1970s and it's just getting worse. Unemployment is expected to increase even after the recession/depression is over just as it did after the last two recessions.

To make matters worse some people are saying americans don't even want to work like they used to. The're more inclined to just have one person in the household work and get by with less.

I still think limiting productivity is stupid, but I don't know enough about economics to discuss this intelligently, so I'll let it drop.

It's not that complicated actually. When people are unemployed they don't produce anything so they might as well be working if you get the same production out of it. People want to work, especially in a depression. That's a benefit in itself.

But it seems to me that you don't want to deliberately limit production and growth. You do want to distribute the amount of productivity around so everyone can work, I agree. But if more productivity is demanded, let people work to fill it...If the economy grows, it generally needs more workers, does it not?

edit: Yes, I am a liar. People who know what they are talking about, get out your popcorn. It's going to be a sad kinda funny.

I think we should all go back to horse and buggies because that way more people will be employed.

But production isn't limited because more employees are making up for the would be increase in productivity.

Take for example the Great Depression in the US. Some goods sat on the side of the roads and never even made it to market because, although they were produced very cheaply, the price for those goods wasn't high enough to justify transporting them to market.

The problem in a depression isn't productivity, and increased productivity can't fix the problem. It's pushing on a rope.

Productivity is nice, but consumption needs to keep pace for real economic growth. Else, you just get inflation.
