I don't know if fear ever entered my mind. Sheer uncomprehending shock sort of ran things for a while, before being replaced by sheer, insurmountable displeasure with those who perpetrated such an act. But being afraid? No.
We're (ostensibly) live in a state of liberty. There's too much to see and do to have time to be a ****ing *****. (But there's time to **** ***** if you're so bent...)
To risk sounding like those idiots in the months after it, fear is what they wanted. You don't want them to win, do you ?

I didn't know what was going to happen next. Maybe more attacks would happen. Maybe the government would call martial law. Maybe everything would change for the worse, and it did kind of, just not as bad as I feared. I do remember that other people didn't seem afraid.

At the time, there was an overwhelming feeling that more attacks were comings. Seeing those fighter jets on 24/7 patrol over Chicago in the weeks following the attacks was chilling.

I found them somewhat comforting. Not the Chicago ones, but in Dallas.

I'm nowhere near the city center, so I didn't feel like I was personally at risk. But every time I went outside, I was reminded: This is now a different world.
But that was nothing compared to the first time I flew after 9/11. It was a couple months later, to a convention.
In NYC. At the Javitz Center.
That was a totally surreal experience.

How damned disgusting.
You're damned right it is! We weren't satisifed with victory in Afghanistan, well, near victory since we let the numero uno suspect get away. We had to go out and "shock and awe" a completely innocent country. One hundred and fifty thousand extra dead, that's a reprisal ratio of what? 50 to 1?

I was talking to Oerdin. I realize that wasn't clear.
However, your comment about innocent country is crap, still.

I had to fly out of LaGuardia on 9/22 to go to my final year at college (my university started late). As the plane circled and passed over Manhattan, I looked out and saw smoke still coming from ground zero.
I was flying out in the afternoon, and yet the airport was nearlyh empty that day.
