I have zero sympathy for countries that allow multi-million cities near violently active volcanos and elect Berlusconi while at it.

jesus cuba reported a 211mpg gust sustained for more than a minute. I dont think thats accurate. Thats unheard of. If that is true we (Gulf Coast) are so ****ed. In Tampa we just got a squall line with 40mph gusts...

retarded bleeding heart liberal bull**** aside. Reconstruction of NOLA was exceeding most expectations considering the amount of damage done in 2005. I saw on CNN that school drop-outs rates have have been halved due to new public schools and charter alternatives.

The Federal Governments response to Katrina was horrid. But the rebuilding of infrastructure is definately a little known example of what the government did right for a change.

Not very bright are you. What do you suppose cold water does? Sink in warmer water or float on warmer water? Here's a hint, look up "Density".

Even with the fresh vs salt water difference isn't enough to over come the temperature difference. Your surface waters by the time you get to hurricane zones are not colder due to melting ice caps. Just look at surface water data you numb nuts.

Shut up Shut up Shut up. Im not going to go through explaining to you what a Low Pressure is and why Cyclogenesis does or does not occur

Dont bring political Voodoo trolling fake global warming crap into this. There have always been hurricanes, and there will always be hurricanes. This has nothing to do with Global Warming. There is no pattern at all that can be found with .00001% rise in global temperature. Hurricanes are more beholdin to wind currents, shear, and high pressure than they are SST's

welp the ridge never formed or is extremely late. models have thrown the west track out the window. Straight to the big easy. God help them . All hopes of this hitting between NOLA and Houston are going to be abandoned by the NHC at 11:00pm. Its heading dead on SE LA.

KATRINA WAS ONLY A CAT 2 AT LANDFALL AND PASSED EAST OF NOLA. THIS WILL BE PROJECTED AT CAT 4 AND PASS EITHER OVERHEAD OR SLIGHTLY TO THE EAST. ANY APOLYTONERS IN THE CONE PLZ BE SAFE AND LEAVE

faded, you must be faded. Katrina was a Cat 3 when it made second landfall in Louisiana (first landfall being in Southern Florida as a Cat 1) having only just weakened from a Cat 4 out over the Gulf, was a Cat 3 as it passed NO, and was a Cat 3 when it made its third and final landfall northeast of NO near the LA/AL border.
The cake is NOT a lie. It's so delicious and moist.

we need to make a huge inland sea in the Sahara, that'll reduce the hot winds coming off of Africa

you stupid ******. Katrina was a lightwieght compared to a Cat 3-4 to the east of NOLA. Worst wins are in the NE Quadrant.

As the eye of Hurricane Katrina swept to the northeast, it subjected the city to hurricane conditions for hours. Although power failures prevented accurate measurement of wind speeds in New Orleans, there were a few measurements of hurricane-force winds. From this the NHC concluded that it is likely that much of the city experienced sustained winds of Category 1 or Category 2 strength.
