One more thing that is happening that most of TROC (the rest of Canada) is not fully aware of is the movement that has been going on for more than 20 years for Northern Ontario (Algonquin) to separate from Southern Ontario. It would stir up the pot in ways that Quebec and Alberta couldn't even begin to guess at. For example: Much of the mineral wealth in Canada is in Northern Ontario, and the vast majority of the tax revenues from the north are never spent there. In schools which in Canada are provincially run, Northern Ontario schools get only half as much per student as Southern Ontario schools get.

That movement is more than 20 years old.

I agree with them. North Ont has issues significantly different than the south and should be self governed.

It wasn't the intention, hence my follow up comment.

What is humorous about it?

The reality is the minuscule north Ont pop is swamped in provincial politics by the high pop of southern ontario. This wouldn't be so bad if the north wasn't drastically different from the south. They really are two separate regions.
