Yeah, really... I mean you need 270 to win. 300 is enough to win and a couple mid-high EC states.

So Ben Kenobi assigns every single state that is even somewhat close to McCain. Somehow I think that this prediction will be in line with your previous track record of political predictions even if McCain does win
        I'm not alone this time.

For McCain to win 35 states, all he needs is to win are Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan, PA and New Hampshire. None of which is more then a 3 percent swing. That also puts him at over 300 EC votes.

Wow. I don't think I ever noticed that about you. Cool.
That's what I was discussing with Oerdin. Without the American Legion and VFW lobbying, then who? Not enough, it just seems to me, are doing enough.
Benefits that were promised are constantly being eroded, negative vibes about McCain's or not.

Oerdin, your main technique of debate is to stuff yourself into one position and then smear the other side as if it were the very devil. You do it over and over again in every thread. It's why people respond so violently to your threads.

It's not because you bring irrefutable evidence to the table or because you intimidate us with your knowledge and wit; it's because you're repetitive and annoying.

But my lunch is over and all I'm doing is insulting you, so I'm going to ditch this thread now.
The only thing I claim the other side is the devil is politics and that is because the actions of the Republican party over the last 8 years really has been evil. Every chance they've gotten they've stolen from the treasury to give to their cronies, they've let the interests of the few harm the interests of the many, they've allowed a great American city and much of the gulf cost to be destroyed through neglect and bad will, they've wiretapped every phone, they've copied every e-mail, they've lied again & again to both the Congress and the people, and they've practically wiped their behinds with the constitution, etc... Yes, I do consider the people who did that to be evil.

That doesn't mean I think the Democrats' ****e doesn't stink. That just means I consider anything to be better then what we have. I am more then a little ticked off at the fence sitters who like to claim everyone is always the same in politics when that's just not true. As I said no one is perfect but it is very clear one group here is worse then the other. So have the courage to actually say it instead of sticking to the wishy-washy "everyone is the same" line.

True, I should be more charitable. I do see how lots of minor to medium injuries can add up to 100% and that it is within the rules without any fraud but I do wish there would be some sort of rule preventing people who aren't actually totally disabled from getting counted as totally disabled.

That last part isn't really true. I voted for Clinton twice and against Kerry. It's not just the party. You're voting for an individual. Some democrats will be pissy with Obama, some republicans with McCain. Just because the individual is representative of a party, they're still people with mixed views. Don't simplify it so much. It's not black and white on party views.

I've got a bet in mind but we have to define a few things first.

Odds: I'm taking the bigger risk by predicting landslide (>35 states or >300 electoral votes) I want 12:1 odds.
How do you propose odds? BTW Shall we define a landslide as 65% vs 35%? That seems fair.

                    • It's in the bag for McCain, folks. In '00 and '04 at this point, Bush was getting his ass kicked. Things move towards the Right as election time nears. Obama will not win this election.

                      • That's an urban legend. Kerry was up only a small amount at this point, and Gore was way behind.

                        • Was he really? I know Gore was hurt by Bill's blowjob but I always thought he started well ahead. I honestly didn't pay much attention to polls back in '99 though.

                          • I kind of put Gore in the Jimmy Carter category. More able to have an impact outside politics.

I agree that a few didn't vote with their party but the majority sure did. The best possible thing for America, in my mind, would be for the Republican Party to really lose bad in the coming election so that the old leadership can get thrown out and new leadership can come in to help guide the party back to its roots and away from it's policies of the last decade.

                              • All I know with certainty is that I wouldn't be president for anything. No way. Has been reported what toilet paper brand is used at the White House yet? You can't do anything without people around. Forget it.
