As for Americans learning their lesson, it is sad that they have not. The principle behind their Declaration of Independence was that of the right to self-determination, and empires are in direct contradiction with that right.

That is why empires will always fall; the people who call that land home will never stop fighting to determine their own course. It only requires the right time, and the right people like Gian.

The United States has the friendship of the world's most powerful nations, likewise democratic and self-governing. That is an empire that need never fail.

I do. Both Lee and Jackson were great generals (Lee is probably among the greatest generals in history). Sometimes good people fight for the wrong side, as was the case with Lee. I don't think anyone could seriously doubt his character. Rommel is another example.
