Women are the ones who would traditionally end up with children. It makes sense that they would be more discriminating about sex.

The assumption behind this thread -- that the genders can be generalized, as opposed to treating people as the individuals they are -- is invalid.

And let's be honest here. As men, there are women you just want to screw and women you want to have a relationship with. Women who are promiscuous gain the reputation as a "woman you just want to screw". So they have to protect their reputation so that they are seen as relationship material.
Same girls for me really. I don't understand why you'd keep two categories. The girls I find attractive are both relationship material and sexy.

Like Nikolai I want to get married first.

Obviously teher are differenmt attitudes, by why put that on women rather than on received cultural notions? Men and women get their sense of sexuality through the process of socialization; neither develops it in a vacuum or has it genetically encoded. So teh real question is, how does society teach us to behave with regard to sex?

Here's one simple marker: English has a long standing word with positive connotations for a man who has many sexual partners -- "stud." There is no long-standing female equivalent of that term. English also has a long-standing term with negative connotations for a woman who has many sexual partners -- "slut." There is no long-standing male equivalent of that term.

Our ability to understand our own circumstances is greatly constrained by the language in which we must come to that understanding. Constrained by a language in which the same behavior makes men "studs" but women "sluts," what conclusions would you expect men and women to come to about their respective sexualities?

There are male "sluts" and female "players" nowadays as well.

That's why I said "long-standing." If those new terms ever gain general cultural currency (i.e., are used widely by adults), it'll mark a shift in cultural attitudes. That will be interesting to see.

So sociology and anthropology -- and for that matter zoology -- are invalid disciplines?
