As for the advantages of the unmarried state:

1 Cor 7:32-5

I would like you to be free from concern. An unmarried man is concerned about the Lord's affairs—how he can please the Lord.

But a married man is concerned about the affairs of this world—how he can please his wife— and his interests are divided.

An unmarried woman or virgin is concerned about the Lord's affairs: Her aim is to be devoted to the Lord in both body and spirit.

But a married woman is concerned about the affairs of this world—how she can please her husband.

I am saying this for your own good, not to restrict you, but that you may live in a right way in undivided devotion to the Lord.

This is why the Catholic church restricts ordination to only those men and women who are willing to remain celibate.

As for Paul being married, there are lots of people who think Jesus was married too.

I have read those verses many times. They don't include any instruction that to be in dedicated service that one should be celibate. I see that you skipped any reference to Peter's marriage state.

You are also ignoring the fact that eastern orthodox (?) priests aren't celebrate.

I think you can have a reasonable idea of whether you are compatible on a personal level without having talked to your partner. Argument for arranged marriage .

If that sounds silly, it's because it is. You can't really have any idea if you are sexually compatible before having sex, just as you can't have any idea if you are compatible in conversation, etc, before meeing the other person.

And the problem is manifest in your statement... for someone without experience, you think that attraction should be enough for sexual compatibility.

Actually, as long as the person is caring/etc, I probably am compatible on a personal level without needing to talk to such a person.

I was waiting for you to cite Timothy in response.

No, the early church did not require the priests to be celibate, and that came about later. However, prior to that there was a mix, some who were married like Peter and others who were not, such as Paul.

If you want me to seriously acknowledge the folks who were married, you have to acknowledge the folks who were celibate, and say that the church supported them i their stance.

Umm, yes I can. I can have a pretty good idea with whether I am compatible in conversation with someone if I talk to them on the phone all the time, not having met them before.

Yes, in a sexual way. You should find someone attractive in that manner. Educate me here Imran, why wouldn't it work if two people wanted to have sex with one another? Why would they need to have experience before knowing if they were compatible in this manner.
