well if it was up to me, i'd legalise and tax all drugs. part of the money you'd save on law enforcement and the tax revenue could be used to have proper treatment programs for addicts.

it no more conflicts with nationalised medicine than the current attitude we have towards tobacco.

BTW: The people of California passed a referendum a few years back, mandating treatment over jail time.

My grandpa used to have a saying: "Your rights end where my nose begins." People smoking grass does not affect others. Ergo, legalize it!

What is legal and illegal is the states business. It's called having a society that's not full of pot heads.

That was my point (that drinking is in some ways worse because it's very easy to drink a lot, while smoking pot actually takes some time and doesn't necessarily lead to smoking more pot in the immediate short term). However, smoking pot is certainly much worse than drinking a small amount of alcohol, and it's IMO bad enough in terms of its inebriation effect that it should be not legal (as should drinking large amounts of alcohol).

Your logic is faulty. Are we talking about a "pinner" or a "cone". THC consumption can be as little as 1 bowl (equiv to your 1 drink I suspect) or it could be a 3-paper joint. World of difference bewteen the two.

As far as I am aware, cannabis has far fewer negative health effects than tobacco or alcohol. For example smoking it doesn't seem to corrolate with lung cancer.

I bet less people drink two drinks than drink one.

But two makes you an alcoholic? That was after all your claim.

No. I said people who only drink one are not alcoholics.

                          Which by inferrence means...?

Admit it was an exaggeration and I'll let it go.

No, I don't think it should be legalized. We have enough problems here with drug abuse.

As for usage rates, if you sincerely believe that legalization will result in lower usage rates, I have a bridge in brooklyn to sell you.

As for smoking and drinking, they don't affect you several days later after just one drink.

Are you drunk now?! I only meant to make a comment about people who stop after one drink. What does that have to do with people who have 2?
