She's 60 right now. I'm not sure she'll have much of an oppertunity to run later on. I guess she could run in 4 years if McCain ends up being President, but I don't see her as a McCain, running in her 70s.

No it won't. New York loves her. I mean if the Dems tried to knock her off (they won't) like Liebermann, she'd do what Liebermann did and run as a independant and win.

The Democratic candidate says he would’ve left his church in Chicago had his pastor not retired.

“Had the reverend not retired and had he not acknowledged that what he had said had deeply offended people and were inappropriate and mischaracterized what I believe is the greatness of this country for all its flaws, then I wouldn’t have felt comfortable staying there at the church,” Mr. Obama said in the interview.

So now Obama said he would have left the church if the Rev. Wright NOT retired (last year, IIRC)? So that brings up questions of why he stayed there so long to begin with, especially after the 9/11 comments. It is one thing to say, listen he said some wrong things, but he's a decent guy (while I don't agree, that's the best possible answer), but now to say if he didn't retire I would have left the church?

Obama appears to be engaging in the "politics as usual" approach and talking out of both sides of his mouth.

He needs to be quiet on this issue now, for his own good.

Maybe Senate Leader then. Anyway, she has no chance of winning at this point so she can only harm herself. Someone once said, never fight a battle you can't win.

What exactly does she gain by dropping out? If she stays in, she can perhaps extract some concessions at the convention itself when Howard Dean gets all freaked out about what may happen (even if Clinton is going to lose, it'll be close and who knows what will happen on the floor.. though I'm hoping for fist fights

).

Curious. What do you think is the best answer. I agree with you that he is handling this wrong. Even Nixon didn't betray his friends. This is betrayal. IMO, he should have said that like a lot of people he doesn't agree with everything his spiritual leader says.

Nothing. My point is she can cut her loses. She won't have to take the blame for handing the election to the GOP.

Like VP? I wonder if she would even want that. The best thing for the party is for her to drop out ASAP and throw her support for Obama. She can still be the VP if she wants. That would probably be best for the party too, but I don't know if that's waht she would want.

The best answer would have been to have his race speech and then tell people later, its the same as my speech. Say that he's been close to him, but he doesn't believe everything that the Reverend agrees with.

And he HAS to realize that not everyone is going to be happy with that answer, but he can't worry about them who aren't (they likely weren't going to be voting for him anyway, or it won't be a dealbreaker for them).
