Actually, being in San Francisco, I only drive my car when I go to the store or if I have an appointment outside of the City. For the most part I utilize MUNI and BART for my transportation needs. On the upside, I only fillup my gas tank about once every 1-2 months.

Even though I rarely actually utilize my car, I like the convienence of having it here if I ever need it...that, and I love my Volvo XC-70 Crosscountry and don't want to part with it.

I know, I made a request for Midtown. I was actually pissed off when the dude said like I think you should live in this Lindbergh thingie. I was more like so you tell em where to live now? I don't like you that much anyway, but now you tell me where to live? Listen buddy, I have some problems right now so I'm not looking into some random move across the globe to find myself in some area I don't enjoy or where I have to take a damn bus to see another human or do an activity.

So I want midtown, but they said it might be too expensive. I said well, according to budget it isn't. The thing is, my boss only looked at few places and he can't be bothered to look anything else. I spent a great deal of time looking all kidns of places, so I know what's what when it comes to prices and areas. I KNOW it can easily fit the budget, but noooo, you go live in a hut, peasant.

        I don't know. I hate my life.

Wittlich, you live in SF? Cool I liked it a lot. One of my favourite places in there, definitely. SF

I actually once wanted to live there. Now I don't care so much, except that I can say I don't want to live in X, Y or Z. SF would be still a pretty good choice. Quite expensive though.

I love San Francisco so much, let's live in... Atlanta.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

That is an understatement! But a beautiful city just the same.

I don't know. All I know is I won't be getting a car. It's just not going to be convinient enough. You see, you have to buy it, sell it, own it, get insurance, have money for all of this etc. At the point I'd be getting it, there's like what, 4 months left. Then I get to drive it to the food shop few times and I already have to be selling it.

                No thanks.

                Keep your dirty car boxes.

Greater then 500 in some spots, which is where I presume Pekka lives.

Yes, overall it is small, but most live in the south. It's like Canada, where 95 percent live within 100 miles of the US border.

                      • So why are you complaining about Atlanta?

Not exactly top level public transit where you live.

                        • Again wrong.

Everything is still within walking distace, public transportation is excellent.

Unlike Atlanta. Plenty of routes, every place is accesible with bikes and walking, everything. Even when it's winter, this all holds true. Unlike Atlanta. It smells fresh in here. Unlike Atlanta.

                            • Yeah. But not for long. I have to move to crappy Atlanta!

This place is crappy as well. I loved the city I just moved from last fall. It was awesome. This one sucks. But so does ATL. I mean they have a decent hockey team, but it still kind of sucks if you know what I mean.

That's not a very ingenious argument. The population density in the Atlanta metro area (21,000km² vs 34,000km² for Southern Finland) is also a good chunk higher than in the rest of the state of Georgia.

I'm reminded of Oslo, where there are vast expanses of available land to sprawl into and where they're reluctant to do so (which, in combination with a similar reluctance to build upwards and a surging population, is rather problematic BTW). Merely pointing at lower population densities isn't a sufficient explanation.
