Canada's oil production is far more labor and capital intensive and most importantly far more dependent on local expertise than any of the production in iraq was.
First off, most of the workers are either Americans, or sympathetic to the Americans. The folks on the Patch genuinely would prefer to be Americans over Canadians. Yes, they are more dependent on local expertise, but it would be more like, turn off the switch, turn it back on again a few days later.

I would seriously doubt that we would see the patch workers harming the refineries, they have more to fear from environmentalists then with Americans. Why would they want to harm their livelihoods.

I'm sure restoration of production in Canada would in fact take far longer than was the case for iraq.
I give it a week. You underestimate Canadians, and overestimate our willingness to destroy our own jobs. If the Americans were to take over Alberta, they'd be up and running at better production very quickly.

I also think you'd have serious morale issues in the military that would erode combat effectiveness of the troops who would be relied upon to secure the restoration of production.
Why? Most of the people you are talking about would welcome Americans. Honestly, if Americans feel upset about shooting Canadians, how likely do you think we are to put up a resistance against you? The same feelings run both ways.

Anyways, if it ever came to that we'd be annexed. Most Canadians have more north-south connections then west-east. The only time that would change is if Americans were to start killing everybody, and I seriously doubt that would happen.

You don't count for many reasons, not the least of which you are stupid
Stupid for thinking Washington could run things here better then Ottawa?

I'd take Bush over Harper any day.

I'm not sure you realize it, but your economy isn't that hot right now and if you're cut off from oil, a huge chunk of your electricity, and a lot of your natural gas for heating...the dollars in the US won't be what they once were...

Well that so refutes my argument.

Tell me, what has the Canadian Federal Government done that is an improvement over how things are done in the US.

And I've lived here longer then you are. I'm a Canadian citizen. So I wouldn't go saying that "I don't count" just because my opinion differs.

                Easy answer, one word: Iraq

We are still in Afghanistan and just extended the mission. It seems to me a worse policy that we are not in Iraq as well. If we are going to commit to one, we should commit to the other.

I don't understand how someone could support one and not the other.

I support neither. They are both destined to fail.

Ok, that's a much more sensible position.

It's what I think, just that I believe the american position to be far more consistant then the Canadian one.

I think there was little connection between the two (it can certainly be argued there is now however). It would be hard to use that argument and at the same time argue it was a wise policy however.

You seriously can't comprehend the differences between Afghanistan and Iraq and why Canada is in one but not the other? Is it too difficult for you or are you just too brainwashed?
