Storm in a tea cup. No one will cancel NAFTA. This is just stupid politicians attempting to pander to protectionist sentiments during a close election. Ohio is one of the old line manufacturing states and there is just a 2% spread for next week's primary election so both sides are attempting to pander to union voters.

Both Obama and Clinton would promise the union men the moon and stars in order to win but in the end nothing will change.

Doubt it. Saddam opened up the national armories and gave them away to all military aged males to fight in guerrilla forces. AK-47s are every where. Doubt the same is true with Canada. Daddy's hunting rifle isn't the same as an automatic weapon.

And you would be crippled by international backlash yourself.

You can't win here, Kid. Canada's too nice to the rest of the world, you wouldn't get away with anything.

See DanS's response. NAFTA isn't going anywhere.

As for the rest... yeah, Canada has us by the balls on energy. Given the economic co-dependence of the two countries, however, Canada would inflict a fair amount of pain on itself if it waged economic warfare on us.

The number of water drinkers in our country, and their growth rate, are far higher here. As is our demand for water for Agricultural and Industrial use.

However, water, like oil, is pretty fungible, and as I understand it the land that the Bush family has in Peru has the largest fresh water aquifer in the world under it.

I think you lose sight of the fact that none of our people would view you as liberators . What exactly would you do if 10,000 unarmed Canadians-- grandma's, new moms etc with children in tow marched on a facility with the view to shutting off the valves-- with live TV coverage of the whole thing.

Do you really think any government in the US could massacre Canadians in the name of obtaining OUR energy?Your population barely can stomach your Iraq involvement-- how exactly would it handle ANY type of invasion of a democratically elected country if the only justification is an attempt at grand larceny

True thats why nonviolent protest could do you in-- I doubt that your government could give the order to open fire . and I have even more severe doubts that your typical Naional Guard guy could open fire
