I doubt tasers have been used 1,000,000 times, or even close to that much.

You missed the thread where Donegeal let slip that they taser prisoners for fun all the time.

No, it wasn't. A man, who was only arms length away, took an aggressive step toward a police officer on the side of the interstate during a high traffic time. It was used appropriately in that situation; however, the situation could have been avoided if it had been handled differently.

With a world population closing in on 7 billion and including all the times a Tazer is used during training? Most asuredly it is over a million.

Do you taser anyone who steps towards you a lot? No wonder you got your 1,000,000 figure. I completely disagree that that was the appropriate response.

Being a cop is a risk you accept. Why the hell are you so gung-ho on transferring that risk to citizens whenever you feel the slightest bit threatened? There's something fundamentally wrong with that.

OK, I feel so assamed Asher... Instead of having a 50% chance that I get hurt and the guy gets away, I transfer it to the civilian so he has a 0.000012% chance and the guy is detained.

              Boo-Hoo.

I think citizens should carry tasers around to use on police in case they feel threatened by police brutality

I think the chance of that unarmed man hurting a trained cop with a gun is less than your absurdly-low 0.000012% figure.

What good are tasers if you never get to use one?

The problem with this whole tasering isn't that they guy got tasered it is the lose moral ethics caused by the mormon deity that permitted the cop to think it would be alright to electricute another person. It's a shame what that state has come to exemplify. Woe is Commrade Tassadar

The stupidest part is the idea that the guy took a "aggressive step". He didn't, as far as I can see.

The cop asks him to get out, he does, and while facing the cop and talking he gets tasered. Then the cop continues the swagger and calm-cool-collected demeanor calling for backup.

The guy was less than a yard from the cop when he took that step. I single sucker punch to the face in that situation could have landed the cop on his but in interstate traffic. In that situation, the unarmed man could have VERY easily hurt or killed the cop.

The cop asked him to get out, and stood right next to him. WTF?

I watched that part of the video 5 times now, to try to see what your seeing.

He did NOT take an agressive step. The cop TOLD him to get out of the car and he *gasp* got out of the car.

The cop kept yelling at him over and over to get his liscence out, yelling again to get it out, before he even had a chance to, then a third and a fourth time-is it any shock the guy was flustered and unable to get it out fast enough?

You cannot use force to bring compliance just because someone questioned what they did wrong at a traffic stop. If he said "you are under arrest" and he resisted maybe, but the guy did not DO anything.

That cop should be fired and I hoped he is sued.

The guy is an idiot for arguing. The cop is an *******. End of story.

That's where you show a lack of training. Cops are trained to look for key things that indicate an assault might be comming. n this case, the guy took a small step toward the officer with I believe it was the left foot and moved his shoulders back, similar to a typical move by someone who is getting ready to fight. Their might also have been increased tension like someone winding up to throw a punch, but the camera can't catch that.
