Hi guys. Friendly neighborhood copper reporting in (come on, you knew it was coming).
First off, Apoc, you are completely wrong. Being tasered hurts like hell. That is why its considered a pain compliance technique. It hurts, but doesn't injure. Maybe that is what you were thinking.
I watched both videos. The fault is completely with the kid and the officers involved will be absolved of anything.
During the questioning, an officer in charge told him he was done (or told him something that made him turn to her and state he has two more questions). At that point she attempted to remove him when he continued after he was told to stop. What the rules/regulations/policies are that caused the police to tell him to stop are, I don't know, but they are what should be reviewed. The isses that happened next are strictly because the guy resisted. Most likely if he'd have just left when they first tried to make him leave, nothing would have happened except for him getting escourted out of the building. But because he resisted, he was placed under arrest. Additionally, at the time of the tasering, he was not hand cuffed. He was still actively resisting. BTW, the tasering in question is called a drive stun. The part that shoots out is removed from the weapon and there is just the two electrical prongs. A drive stun is just as painfull as a regular tasering, but not as incompasitating.

No, they screwed it up. They coudl have squeezed his hippie balls, there was no way you could see that in any kind of a film once he was on his stomach. A really hard squeeze, and the moment he starts crying about his balls, THEN tase the guy so he won't actually say the words.
I also think they could have been stronger, they could have choked him, twist his arms more and generally just abuse the guy. I mean you can do that, and there's nothing wrong in that, because that's what you can do.In da butt.

Kid, you don't understand, they were protecting him from himself when they tased him. Do you understand that he mighjt have hurt himself if they didn't do that? They were totally doing it for his own good.In da butt.

Whether he was still resisting or not might possibly be debatable, but clearly the tasering was unnecessary regardless."The DPRK is still in a state of war with the U.S. It's called a black out." - Che explaining why orbital nightime pictures of NK show few lights. Seriously.

In a way, Pekka is right.
The jod of the police is to get the subject restrained as quickly as possible and hopefully not injure the guy. If the taser had not been used, the officers still would have gotten the guy in cuffs, but they'd had to pull his arms against his muscles. Not sure if any of you work out but it is very easy to pull a muscle (or in this case break an arm or have the shoulder pop out). Now lets compare the risks:
Taser: 5 seconds of pain to gain compliance to restrain the subject. Risk of injury is virtually none.
Non-compliant physically forced into hand cuffs: Most likely more than 5 seconds to accomplish goal. Risk of injury to subjec and officers is far greater with a non-compliant subject. Additionally, property could get damaged in the struggle.
The choice is pretty obvious.Founder of The Glory of War, CHAMPIONS OF APOLYTON!!!

5-6 cops should have been able to deal with him without the taser, but the student sounded like an attention-seeking drama queen who happily escalated the situation so he could thcweam and thcweam.
