I guess what I'm trying to point out is that what can be technically done isnt' the same thing as what should be done. These rent-a-cop fat bozos only caused more disturbance than the other way around and made the situation more dangerous. It's called judgement. People should use it, and those who are unable to do it should be given jobs with no responsibility.
It is irrelevant what th kid stands for, it is irrelevant if he wanted the cops to mandhandle him. His crime was not obvious at least to me and I think it should be relatively obvious.
The traitors of the people will always go for the system defending. Sure, folks who were against banning certain magazines and censoring the internet in China were prolly thinking "This isn't right" but then there was always a crowd who normalizes the situation by cutting the tall grass, saying that "They can do that because.. they can. It says that they can do it so shut up".
The laws are supposed to protect the people. So... what laws did he break before getting arrested and mandhandled? It's a ridiculous notion that you shouldn't be able to protest an arrest unless you have broken a law. If you don't understand it, then they shoudl explain what you did and that it's against the law and that he can contest it in front of a court.
It's a ridiculous notion that fatass cops like the ones on this video can take you away for no obvious reason and "well there's a forum for your appeals". As if you then have to spend a night in jail, get a check in your record for that arrest even if it doesn't hold up in the court, spend your time and have the mental pressure because some fat bastard just decided so. THAT was a judgement call. Using the taser was a judgement call. We all see what a dangerous person that kid was
And that law should protect the people, so I see a lot of ruckus and citizens getting upset by the procedure. So, it's not trivial that this kind of behavior is accepted or acceptable EVEN if it technically can be done. You want to go and see what can be technically done in NK? No? So it's a BS excuse, that's the point, it's an excuse to justify what happened.
Taking too much time to ask a question? Uuuuuh, take him away, fast, he is ruining the event, damn criminal!
Sure, take him away, but act like a respectable police officer and a human, not like a dick who can't handle himself when it comes to oh so dangerous university students who have a book in their hand. A book!
Fat idiots like these shouldn't be even given tasers. I've seen perfectly good taserings by good real deal cops. There's lots of troublemakers out there who need to be restrained when arrested because they don't comply and they're dangerous and being dangerous. Like the real world situation. That's where you need real deal cops who have balls to keep us safe from these jerks.
You think a real cop would have to use a taser in that situation? DO you think these fat bozos coudl handle the mean streets at night? No. They need a taser to submit a student with a book arm wrestling. Wait, arm wrestling when he si on his stomach and there's bunch of bozos next to him. I wouldn't feel safe if my streets were patrolled by these pussies. They'd get run over the first day by the real criminals.

He wasn't just doing that. His questions included such gems as "Why not impeach Bush for being about to invade Iran? Why not impeach Bush? We impeached Clinton for what, a blow job?"
It makes sense in that case to be removed for asking an inappropriate question. If you resist as loudly and forcefully as this kid did, then you can get arrested and tasered.
It is clear, from the way he asked someone to record his rant to the site he maintains and the questions he asked, that this kid "The Andrew Meyer" just wants people to talk about him.

When cops restrain someone in this fashion, they are trained to do it so there is on officer holding onto each limb (2 arms, 2 legs is four of the officers) and one stablizes the head. Now with a struggling/resistive subject like we have in this example (notice how but 1 second before he gets tased he has one hand unsecured and on a seat of some type and his head is up) the officers were still attempting to get control of the subject. They had to get him onto his front with his arms behind his back while he was resisting. He was warned to comply with orders or he was going to get tased. He didn't comply. He got tased. Once tased, he complied with orders and was successfully and properly restrained without any injuries to him self or the officers.
Thanks for that. I saw the hysteria of the media and I've been looking for a rational explaination for the tasing. Now I know what to look for.
Exactly, he got what he got because of the questions he asked.
It's not like I even agree with the kid, but I would fully support his time and space in that forum to express his thoughts.

I look at this situation and think what a great country we live in. We're argueing over the humanity of a cop giving a civilian a painful shock when in most of the rest of the world, they would just shoot the idiot. I love America.

obviously thats what the cops are gonna say to defend their pov. dont matter cause even if th ekid did it intentionally, the cops got TROLL BAITED! hah!
Shrapnel, Wrong. They wouldn't shoot him in most of the of world. Do you seriosuly want to compare US to these nations that would do it? What kind of comparison is that, what kind of results would you get out of that?
I suggest travelling and checking out global sources for news and you would realize this kind of **** isn't normal "outside the US", unless you want to go to Iran, NK or countries like that. It _hardly_ represents the rest of the world.
However, I agree that it's a good sign when lots of people who don't agree with it turn up to talk about it. There are lots of new social phenomenons with certain services like Youtube etc. They are now verbs and concepts and it's a rather good thing IMO.
Plus people have cameras these days, phones have cameras in them. So all kinds of crap is more difficult to pass now. They get documented and people see them. Good stuff.

Well, I'm not really disturbed because it didn't happen where I live. If it did, you bet I'd be protesting this.
Not because I the kid in this case is kind of the opposite if me, but because what is supposed to be an academic forum, you'd be tasered if you happen to be a bit loud, twisting, and arrested for no apparent reason. I WOULD expect that to happen in NK. But I guess they shoot them there so... tasering is really a softer way.
