      Yes/Yes Tucson Arizona

An interesting thing happened a few years ago when the city switched to a new water source. Back ground info first, Tucson is a rapidly growing desert city, it had always relied on ground water well but the water table has drooped a lot, the city had rights to take water from the Colorado river but had never exercised it before (they just sold their share to California). So a new canal was built to bring the water here, the canal and the water are called CAP (Central Arizona Project). The water at the end of the canal was taste tested and liked by the city but when the water was shunted through the cities pipes a slight PH difference caused the 50 years of accumulated minerals on the pipe surfaces to leach into the water. The city was up in arms about the bad taste of the water at the tap and the whole thing was almost scraped. The compormise solution was to shut down half the wells and mix the CAP water with pumped ground water to bring the PH closer to "normal". The remaining CAP water is injected into the ground to replenish the water table and bring the net water table usage down to nearly zero, this hope that the water table will rise over the coming decades as rainwater replenishes it.

I'll take the water from the tap, it's pretty easy to drink. Usually I have been able to drink tap water from most places, but when I went back east I got sick for a few days until I adjusted.

Water? Water is good with bourbon. People drink just water?

All tapwater in the EU zone is suppposed to be drinkable (iirc it's one of the requirements to get in, something like that).
Some countries - Spain for example - still do use chlore to clean it.

                          Isn't chlorine used everywhere?

Did some very quick reading up on it and we seem to use "UV- disinfection" (ultra-violet).

Yes, when there is no other liquid available.

Chlorine kills the bacteria, but that's only half of the story. It doesn't do anything about the heavy metals and other poisonous stuff.
