If the Dems overall think that Obama is electable in the general election, they are seriously detached from reality. Who is going to vote for a "real progressive?" There ain't no votes there!
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891
Man, Ramo was pretty prophetic about Obama from early on.

From my understanding, Obama is far left. If this is true, he will come off as a lightweight vs. Hillary and/or any likely Republican candidate. He himself needs to move to the center in order to win either the nomination or the presidency.

Obama would make an interesting VP candidate but he isn't ready for prime time. However, the Dems already get 80%+ of the black vote and they'd likely lose some white votes for trying to run a black VP so tactically it doesn't make sense. The Republicans are the ones who'd stand to gain big from a black or female VP candidate since both of those groups tend to vote Democratic.

I still don't think he's ready for prime time as proven by the fact that he STILL doesn't know how to get the GOP to actually act in good faith. Offering a fair compromise and then compromising on your compromise just results in them spitting in your face. If you want them to actually do something positive then you need to beat them over the head with a club over and over and over again so that it becomes obvious to the public as well as to the Republican dirtbags that the price of obstructionism is higher then just doing what is right for the country. Until he learns he'll continue to get the GOP deliberately trying to crash the national economy for political gain; Obama needs to make it so that even the most disinterested citizen understands what the Republicans are doing and then, and only then, will the GOP respond to voter anger.
I admit I was wrong about the number of whites who wouldn't vote for a black candidate though. Their numbers were fewer than I thought but they're obviously still there and they obviously make up the most vocal and irrational Obama haters in the GOP.
He isn't ready for Prime Time even though HE WON THE RACE FOR PRESIDENT?! What shifting goal posts is this?
