Wow I thought last night was going to be a GREAT night for Canadian teams but it turned out to be merely pretty good
Montreal--- wow-- really strange way to win there
Ottawa-- it appears they are back
Calgary-- a very very good performance-- they were full marks for their win
Vancouver-- those guys need to score someday-- its good to win but isn't that something like 13 games in a row they have scored 2 or less?
Edmonton-- I was going to be congratulating them on beating a very good Anaheim team-- Instead it just feels like they blew it-- giving up a goal with 17 seconds left!!! Its ok to take a point but its just they could have had a nice win
Toronto-- What is it with Boston and Toronto?? I have it at 3 straight for the Bruins now over Toronto and their success against the Leafs alone has brought the Bruins into playoff contention.

The Flames SHOULD do well with their upcoming schedule
Fri Dec 1, 2006 HOME Blue Jackets
Tue Dec 5, 2006 HOME Hurricanes 9:00 PM ET
Thu Dec 7, 2006 AWAY Wild 8:00 PM ET
Sat Dec 9, 2006 HOME Canucks 10:00 PM ET
Tue Dec 12, 2006 HOME Wild 9:00 PM ET
Thu Dec 14, 2006 AWAY Canucks 10:00 PM ET
Sat Dec 16, 2006 AWAY Coyotes 9:00 PM ET
Its a little busy since they play every 2nd night a lot but 4 of the next 5 are at home. Plus the Wild have been struggling a bit after being much hotter early and the canucks have been really struggling.
So overall this is a string where you can realistically hope to get 10 or 11 points out of the possible 14. and the reality is that they pretty much need to do well since they have managed to suck pretty bad on the road. I did include their games on the 14th and 16th in this stretch but thats just the first two games of a 6 game road swing which has consecutive games against the Ducks and Kings again before heading to see the sharks and Avs.

Huet stands a very good chance of winning the Vezina this year.
Right now Huet is the stats leader, no question but if he plays 40-50 games with a slight stats edge over Kipper who plays 70, I think the Vezina would go to Kipper ( I know that there are lots of others that may contend yet)
Oh and I would love to see Huet perform so well that he is a Vezina winner ince that wouild bode well for my beloved Habs playoff chances

Looking at the Habs , their schedule seems much more even (unsurprising really since the east seems to have fewer truly weak teams and fewer really strong ones with a much larger group of average teams)
Thu Nov 30, 2006 AWAY Hurricanes 7:00 PM ET
Sat Dec 2, 2006 HOME Maple Leafs 7:00 PM ET
Mon Dec 4, 2006 HOME Bruins 7:00 PM ET
Wed Dec 6, 2006 AWAY Devils 7:30 PM ET
Thu Dec 7, 2006 AWAY Islanders 7:30 PM ET
Sat Dec 9, 2006 HOME Sabres 7:00 PM ET
Tue Dec 12, 2006 HOME Bruins 7:30 PM ET

I am looking forward to Saturday and hoping for a good Leafs-Habs contest

Interesting take. I don't think we will have another Theodore
I'm just thinking that if Aebischer plays reasonably well they will use him enough (to keep him ready and Huet rested) that Huet will play a lot fewer games than some other keepers
I actually think that Montreal's use of Huet is a better strategy overall than the Flame's approach with Kipper but it could hurt Vezina hopes.

Huet stands a very good chance of winning the Vezina this year.
Considering how few games Huet plays and his relative consistency problems compared to Kipper, I think even if Kipper's stats are slightly below Huet, Kipper would still get vezina.
It also comes down to the "wow" factor. Kipper won the vezina last year mainly because he's the reason why the Flames won, what was it, 30 1-goal games? That's a tremendous accomplishment that is a huge boost to his candidacy.

I'll also note that, like Kipper, I latched onto Huet's extremely high skills and potential early last season.
This is in contrast to other people on here who clearly did not agree. They've probably changed their tune now, but it's fun being right...
