I'm still curious about the Forsberg/Hamrlik rumblings.
Tanguay-Forsberg-Iginla would be fun to see.

Very very tough to give up Hamrlik with how well he is playing. In the last 10 games he has been consistently the Flames top d-man. Phaneuf has been great as well but Reghr has had his troubles out there.
IN a second I could part with any of Warrener-ference-Zuyzin along with any of the Flames 2nd, 3rd or 4th lines for a top line forward but that type of deal probably wouldn't be on.
I'd just like the Flames to keep their top 3 d-men if they could

Yeah. I'm sure the few ten thousand people that pay attention to Calgary Flames hockey would enjoy the maybe 30 games Forsberg would give you guys before one of his legs fell off and he was out for the year.

Something's gotta give if you want a top line forward: both from a cap-space perspective and a talent one.
Philly needs a real #1 d-man badly, especially considering their awful goaltending situation. Hamrlik has been the subject of some rumours now, and Philly's scouts reportedly have been at Calgary games and Calgary scouts at Philly games...and we need a #1 center...

Forsberg and Hamrlik are both injury prone, if you had any idea what you were talking about...

Not to flame, but the Flames retiring Vernon's number is laughable.
I mean, it's not the most laughable retirement of the past few years, but it is surely laughable.
Why?
He was born in Calgary, he was drafted by Calgary in their first year, lead the team to a President's Trophy, lead the team to the Stanley Cup, and won the Conn Smythe Trophy, William M. Jennings Trophy, and a 5-time allstar.
He also holds lots of Flames records, including 529 Flames games played.
A home-town hero leading Calgary to a Stanley Cup and President's Trophy and by far its longest-serving goaltender in its 26 year history doesn't deserve a jersey retirement?

Not a bad resume but when I think of a jersey retirement, Vernon just doesn't inspire me--- perhaps I am used to the Montreal Canadians standard where multiple cups seemed to be the minimum

Well, compared to guys like Jacques Plante and Ken Dryden, yeah, that's what I'm saying.
I'm sorry, then, that the Flames aren't 75 years old.
The Habs have also retired the likes of Yvan Cournoyer and Howie Morenz anyway.
