I grew up immersed with good, wholesome, decent religious folk. I have nothing against the vast majority of them; in fact, they comprise the majority of my friends and family. My respect for them doesn't mean that I'm going to force myself to remain silent, though.

I have no insecurity whatsoever about it. I just think these people have not been equipped with the necessary intellectual tools to decide - lack of education, indoctrination from an early age, etc. There are many lovely people who are inspired by their belief, but I think their belief has been misplaced.

And why this massive anti-intellectual rant? Why not embrace knowledge rather than dismiss it in the manner you have done? It is reflecting on you, not me...

What is there to know? There isn't one iota of evidence for the existence of a God, so why even contemplate it as a rational theory. That is the essence of the matter.
