I'm basically an athiest. I flipped through Dawkins' book the other day, and I didn't find it to be anything special.

It's a book. Feel free to recommend it to anyone. Don't expect it to change many lives, because it's not really that interesting (or at least the parts that I read weren't).

I found Athiesm: A Reader, edited by S.T. Josh a pretty good read.

Maybe I suffer from short-term memory loss, but I don't recall ever calling atheists douches. I highly doubt I'd ever have said that, though, since, being about as militant an atheist as they come, I am not really into self-loathing.

I sense quite a lot of insecurity there. Perhaps when you come to us and start constructing a rational argument rather than hurl insults at us, we'll start treating you as an equal. No, it's a fair point LordShiva...but I think we, as a group, can be perceived as being quite arrogant. Although conversely, I perceive the various theistic groups as being arrogant. Alas, some of us have strong opinions on things, me being no exception...that's just the way I am, I have passion, as Pekka would say
