TIgers looking very impressive. Oh that pitching...
Love the rain out for the Cards. Now they can and probably will start Carp in game two-six rather than game 3-7 as planned. Much better scenario for them.
So Detroit only needs two out of three at home to finish it up. If Rogers and Bonderman pitch anything like like they did against the Yankees, then two games should be enough.

But in the long run... it might hurt the Cards. If Detroit can take care of business at home, they will have a chance to rest up and set their pitching rotation while the National league determines who will advance. And if the Cards happen to win in 6 games (assuming they do shift their rotation because of the rain out - which they have claimed they won't do) that would mean Carp wouldn't be available for the early games of the WS.
Another good game by the Tigers. Verlander, once again, looked like he was on the ropes but really bore down when it mattered most.
...
Bummer about Cory Lidle. He's not a player I was a particular fan of (neither did I dislike him), and he was only a Yankee for a couple of months, but that's not really important. He had a wife & kid, and there were other people killed in the crash as well, and I'm sure they had families too. Sad.
Experts Predict No NL Team Will Go Deep Into Playoffs
October 5, 2006 | Onion Sports
BRISTOL, CT—Even though the National League somehow managed to send four teams into the 2006 MLB postseason, baseball experts said Monday that it is "unlikely" that any of them will advance past the second round of the playoffs. "The Mets, Dodgers, Padres, and Cardinals have serious pitching issues, almost zero offense, and have played terribly down the stretch," ESPN analyst Buster Olney said. "However, they each luckily drew a first-round opponent that is similarly ill-fitted for postseason play, so we may see one or two emerge from the first round. But as for the World Series—not a chance." Experts went on to predict that it will "probably be another Yankees–Red Sox World Series this year."

2-0 win by the Mets as Glavine pitches a gem and Beltan drives a 2 run HR.
I realize the Onion is trying to make a funny, but when the Mets win the World Series then they'll have egg all over their faces .

The Tigers have won 6 straight post season games now. They rolled over the Yankees, they are rolling over Oakland. And the Mets are next.
This is our year baby.

I didn't expect the Mets to sweep the postseason, and after all the Tigers did lose their first game.
