  • What is little known is the fate of fifteen million German civilians who found themselves on the wrong side of new postwar borders. All over Eastern Europe, the inhabitants of communities that had been established for many centuries were either expelled or killed. Over two million Germans did not survive
Silly claims. Most german fled these lands out of (very much reasonable) fear of Soviet army. The numbers are a couple times smaller.

        • Still, it must have sucked to be one of either group at the hands of those lovely Russians...

All true and dandy, but where do you think the name of that ancient people "Prussians" comes from? Right, from Po or pri russians. By the way it is just plain silly to argue about a name in an unrelated language like English. Let's try other languages.

In German, Prussia is Preußen, and an old name for Russians is Reußen. Strange coincidence.

The origin of Russia is Ruthenia, true. Now you might have a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prussia. There you find, that one of the latin names for Prussia is "Borussia", and the other is "Prutenia". Another strange coincidence, don't you think?

Doesn't sound too silly to me.

To do bold assertions and call other theories silly without backing your own is just... silly. I am always open for a good argument and to accept facts. I don't claim that I am always right, and the theory I cited is not my own, it is just a theory. If you have a better one, put it on the table. "Wrong and silly" doesn't cut it, however.

            • Also, Stalin did the Volga Germans before the Germans invaded. If I was the leader of Germany I'd have invaded over that crime against my people.

              • Seems there are alot of Slavs in the world. Serbia, Hungary, Russia, Ukraine, where else?

Why don't they have a unity movement to unite under one banner like the Germans have, or the Italians?
