    What mistake?

Which German city did you have in mind as having been around for 'thousands of years' ?

    Teutoburgerwaldstadt ?

    Arminiusburg ?

            • Molly: some German cities are about 2,000 years old. Of course they started as Roman castra and only became cities during the middle ages, but still.

Not to many Germans left in Mecklenburg these days.

How could I take someone serious who calls Semmeln Schrippen and a Spritzer Schorle.

Hm, one more innocent question: Do you call Semmelknödel Schrippenklösse?

It's neither Semmeln nor Schrippen. My baker round the corner sells it as "Brötla". But that's in occupied Franconia.

And you can very well get a Spritzer of Schorle on your jacket.

I believe Lancer was referring to 'lost' German cities in Poland.

Now I know fer shure the Romans never reached that far in their beneficent scheme of pizza & olive oil sharing.

Now I'm aware of places such as Augusta Treverorum, but exactly when are we supposed to believe its distinctive German identity appeared ?

After the Treaty of Verdun perhaps ? Under Henry the Fowler, vielleicht ?

                            • I also mentioned 'tilling the ground'. Surely we had managed that over 'thousands of years'? Or were we just living off of wild boars and berries?
