What Zidane did was out of the bounds, but if anyone half a man (in essence: anyone not a footballplayer) would get such a butt, he'd maybe stagger a bit, but certainly not fall over in such a cartoonish manner.
In fact, now that I'm checking some footage, it doesn't even seem like a head-butt at all, more like a "chest-butt". Makes it even harder to understand what was going on in his mind though. (Also makes it even harder to understand how the hell Materazzi managed to fall over
)
