    • try going on www.youtube.com and search for marco materazzi... It is bound to come with some pretty disturbing videos...

But that penalty that Zidane took... A bit of modern magic

      • He seemed to play fair to me, nothing to deserve the violence and beating by Zidane.
Materazzi is infamous for his aggressive style. I think he is a dishonest player. He played fair this game maybe but some of his tackles are absolutely disgusting.

Maybe someone disagrees with me but this is my honest opinion.

I'm sure this is your honest opinion. Still what Zidane did was inexcusable.

I didnt like the fakes by the Italians either but overall they seemed to rock gamevise too so I had no chance but to support them.

          • You don't even know in which Italian team he plays and you "think" he's a dishonest player. While the poor creature Zidane, he was definitely provoked!

PC stupidity of course he's muslim, and african, so he must have had a reason to do that

DeRossi had a redcard for less, and he was lapidated
I will never understand why some people on Apolyton find you so clever. You're predictable, mundane, and a google-whore and the most observant of us all know this. Your battles of "wits" rely on obscurity and whenever you fail to find something sufficiently obscure, like this, you just act like a 5 year old. Congratulations, molly.

            • I was a bit surprised, though... assume Materazzi said something to insult Zidane (which probably was the case). How the heck is it possible that Zidane, 34 years old, in his third World Cup, after spending years in Italy and Spain, could not exercise some restraint over his nerves? I mean, you'd sort of expect that the very experienced players can control their nerves enough to headbutt an enemy in the World Cup final, knowing full well that it's a red-card offense.

Because that is what he said...

And of course Zidane was provoked... you don't just spin around because you feel like it.

                • have to agree to herra here... Although he behaved well this game. It are guy's like him that disgrace modern football. He is just a cheating ****er IMO. But the guy deserves some credit in winding zidane THAT much up .

But the rest of the italian team deserved this... Fabio grosso :y: and Cannavaro, what a colossus of a man.

It will be a bit of a bummer though if they are relegated to Seria B or Seria C tomorrow

                      "for less"

When Zidane draws blood for a vicious elbow, let me know!

How about we ask this guy which was less:

                        It was actually very likely.

The camera followed Zidane after the foul by Materazzi (materazzi circled Zidane with his arms, the ref didn't notice). They seem to exchange maybe 1/2 second about it, and then Zidane sets his eyes toward the ball (behind him) and runs, and so does Materazzi.

They're something like 2-3 metres apart, and they're far from the ball. While both are running, Zidane suddenly stops being concentrated on the ball, does a U-turn, and headbutts Materazzi. It's obvious there was a provocation. OTOH, despite being provoked, it was unsportly of Zidane to headbutt the ****er before the end of the match.

True dat, but one can imagine it was racial or regious taunting that made him snap. I've seen players start crying and wanting to leave the pitch after fans have yelled racist chants or made monkey noises in La Liga in Spain. It's VERY touchy for some folks.

He plays for Internazionale if that´s what you mean. OK he IS a dishonest player. Happy? I´m sure you are still drunk after the victory, I understand that. You are italian. If Iceland
made it to any big tournament i would be quite happy myself. Zidane did a bad thing but honestly, anybody that has seen Materazzi on a ,,good" day knows what a criminal the man is.
Go watch some videos of him if you haven´t.

Zidane is known for his football skills, Materazzi for his dirtyness. I don´t feel sorry for the man. If Zidane would have let Materazzi have what he deserves he would have headbutted him in the face.
