Bah. I give that team of nitwits no pity. You would think that with some ex-players who might know something about the damned game they might be able to at least be decent. Jesus, show some excitement when a goal is scored!Originally posted by Tuberski
Give them a little bit of a break. Thet don't usually cover soccer and went with the few big names that people might have heard about. If Soccer viewership gets better coverage will get better.
Thankfully I was able to watch most game on Spanish television, thought was forced to watch the final on ABC....If you don't like reality, change it! me

1. Congratulations Italy.
2. Laurentius deserves a close encounter with my fist for dissing Zidane.

This will be the first red card for me without any concequences, I'm going for it!"
Good thinking!

I don't think he thought about it. Zidane seemed willing to give the best performance he could before leaving the stage, so that he can be remembered fondly. And this headbutt will be a stain on his memory.Originally posted by CyberShy

OH WHAT IRONY, Mr. "our country is small" *wah*Originally posted by laurentius
Yeh yeh yeh, noone cares about soccer int the states, heard that before and couldnt really care less. Stop making excuses for sucking at the worlds favourite sports.
You may want to brush up on that reading thing. I said call me when you get to the World Cup Finals... AFAIK, UEFA hasn't made beating the US squad a prereq for that oneThe thing is that you said I was only to talk you after we hadeaten you in football.
.
[q=GePap]Given the craptastic nature of ABC/ESPN coverage, why would they?
I would quible with your numbers thought, more than 9 million people in the US watched this game. Just the number of Hispanics alone watching the good Univision coverage probably surpasses that.[/q]
Univision's numbers have been good, but for the Mexico match against Argentina, I think that Univision got 5-6 million viewers. But for an all European final, I'm not sure how many watched it. So maybe 15 million viewers (16-18 if they were REALLY lucky) total.
And I enjoyed the ABC/ESPN coverage

That's true, hell the best soccer players go on to be NFL placekickers.[/q]
Hell, when they can get a $1 mil a year (and probably more) instead of $100,000 a year (if that).“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Really? I find it interesting that anyone does give a damn about it. I don´t. Especially when Materazzi was the target. And this headbutt will be a stain on his memory.Ef þú getur lesið þetta þá kanntu kannski íslensku. Það getur verið að þú sért að vera sniðugur eins og viss herramaður sem ég nafngreini ekki. Eða að þú sért Færeyingur eða Nojari.

I haven't seen the headbutt, but for some reason I doubt it was really hard enough to make a man fall down.DISCLAIMER: the author of the above written texts does not warrant or assume any legal liability or responsibility for any offence and insult; disrespect, arrogance and related forms of demeaning behaviour; discrimination based on race, gender, age, income class, body mass, living area, political voting-record, football fan-ship and musical preference; insensitivity towards material, emotional or spiritual distress; and attempted emotional or financial black-mailing, skirt-chasing or death-threats perceived by the reader of the said written texts.

It was pretty hard... though I agree with Herra. I don't think it'll be a stain. Maybe for a few years, but Zidane is one of the best players in soccer history It'll go away.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. At least in France, we don't care one tiny bit about Materazzi. We care about Zidane. And the headbutt (whose records are of excellent quality) will be known for quite some time to come.Originally posted by Herra Gautason

Not enough to make him fall, definitely. But enough to put some dirt into an otherwise spotless legend."I have been reading up on the universe and have come to the conclusion that the universe is a good thing." -- Dissident

It wasn't. Like I posted earlier it was a good acting job by Materazzi.Originally posted by Colon™

He collapsed like someone had blown his chest out with a shotgun.

Spotless? Zidane is a great player, quite probably the greatest player France has ever had, but this isn't the first time that he has been seen behaving rudely.Originally posted by Spiffor
