  • The usual, I guess - none.
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

        • Cheney & Co are being selfish *******s. They are putting petty politics ahead of a sensible, long-term foreign policy. If Republican congresscritters had any honour, they would have impeached the entirety of this executive branch a long time ago.

            • Following the Nazi-Soviet pact of 1939, the Soviet Army entered eastern Poland as well as military bases in the Baltic states which were granted after USSR had threatened the three countries with military invasion. In June 1940, the Red Army occupied the whole territory of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, and installed new, pro-Soviet governments in all three countries. Following rigged elections, in which only pro-communist candidates were allowed to run, the newly "elected" parliaments of the three countries formally applied to "join" USSR in August 1940 and were annexed into it as the Estonian SSR, the Latvian SSR, and the Lithuanian SSR.

              • Moreover, according to the estimates of the Goldman Sachs Investment Bank, by 2027 Russia will grow to be the most economically powerful country in Europe with a gross national product of three trillion U.S. dollars.
I'm calling bull**** one this one. Germany already has an economy of $2.5 trillion and things would have to go pretty bad that it wouldn't make the 3 trillion within a decade. Heck, even France, the UK and Italy probably will have $3 trillion economies by 2027. (ok, maybe not Italy) I also seriously doubt Russia is going to keep up its pace of growth once the oil boom stops.

Yeah, sure whenever you don't like the outcome the elections are rigged. How do you imagine such elections? A Soviet soldier standing behind every voter and checking what he votes for?
Those parliaments were legitimate and their decisions were legitimate as well.
                    The end of story.

And who said that the oil boom will stop? With such allies it will last forever.

                          NKVD of course.
"And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you—ask what you can do for your country. My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man." -- JFK Inaugural, 1961
"Extremism in the defense of liberty is not a vice." -- Barry Goldwater, 1964 GOP Nomination acceptance speech (not George W. Bush 40 years later...)
                          2004 Presidential Candidate
2008 Presidential Candidate (for what its worth)

                              • Do you seriously believe that Soviets have flooded foreign countries with their NKVD officers to monitor elections? How exactly an officer of NKVD could supervise and intervene other man's voting? Stay behind with a gun pointed at his head?
