I actually think that Anaheim is just that good. They were awesome against a Calgary team that played reasonably well for 6 games (too bad it was a 7 game series)-- There were a fair number of knowledgable hockey folks that picked the winner of the Anaheim- Calgary series to win the west

I know Edmonton and San Jose will have a lot to say about that yet but Anaheim has looked really good

I'd much prefer it if Edmonton won, but I think Anaheim-San Jose would be one hell of a series.

I'm so disappointed in Ottawa. Buffalo is a good team, don't get me wrong, but Ottawa should have won this series rather easily. They're just way too cocky and trying to make too many blind passes and other fancy plays. One play I remember that just seems so indicative of their woes was from the very end of regulation in the first game. They had a one goal lead, and Buffalo pulled the goalie. Some Ottawa player took a difficult shot at the empty net and missed, but Alfredsson zoomed in and got the puck deep in Buffalo's zone. Instead of trying to take another shot on the empty net, which he could have easily tried, he just tried to make some fancy plays to keep the puck in his possession and run out the clock. Instead, he got stripped, Buffalo moved down ice and scored the tying goal with a couple of seconds left. It reminded me of what pisses me off about Vancouver so much - the whole "just protect the lead" mentality instead of keeping the offence at full throttle until the end (unless you're way up in a blowout).

Well, that was a good game to watch outside of the first 10 minutes.

The Oil finally got their skating and scoring legs on. 5 unanswered goals and Toskala got chased.

Now let's see if the Oilers can go into the Shark Tank and continue to beat the hell out of the Sharks.

Every time I think the Oil look like they're going to pack up and head home, they prove me wrong. Thank goodness for that.

Short of an injury it's hard to see him come in. It's not the sort of situation you want to drop a young guy into, but there's a bit more depth there just in case.

The players themselves? I dunno, I'd say they didn't want it bad enough.

This is written in stone. I'm proud to have stated this even before the playoffs began with the exception of including Calgary as the final team in case it wins Anaheim.
