It will be sad if the Oilers reach the Stanley Cup finals... a team with a .500 record in the Finals?
And can you imagine if Edmonton wins the Cup? What a piece of crap that will be. The league is on strike for a year, only to come back and have a .500 team win the Stanley Cup. Yeah, what a great way to put hockey back on the map.
Not that most of you guys will care because ZOMFG IT"S A CANADIAN TEAM!!!!

Tournaments, such as the Stanley Cup Playoffs, aren't corronations. And the Playoffs are a much different beast than the regular season. To me, it makes perfect sense that the Oilers could win it.Originally posted by Sava

There is so much wrong with this situation, it disgusts me.
There are still some major flaws with the NHL, and they need to be addressed.
Because if a team like Edmonton is going to win the Stanley Cup (which hopefully they won't), there are some serious flaws with the league.
Let's look at the Oilers real quick... the GREAT ALES HEMSKY was the leading scorer. 77 points. 18 goals. A budding superstar, no doubt.
The only guy to have a positive in the plus/minus in double digits was... THE AMAZING STEVE STAIOS!
and let's not even get into the Oiler's pathetic goaltending situation for most of the year... Roloson has been good in the playoffs... and I bet if the Oilers make it to the Finals and lose, they'll give him the Conn Smyth.

If none of the ****ing other teams that Edmonton plays can manage to beat them over a 7 game series, then why the **** should anybody else win the Cup?

But some turnabout is fair play. If everyone is going to cheer on the Oilers, have to expect some nay sayers.
However, Edomonton was way over .500 no matter how you cut it. Furthermore, we had to play Calgary, Vancouver, Colorado and Minny 32 times en route to those 95 points.
Incidently, had it not been for a total meltdown by the Bruins management, Vancouver would be in and San Jose would be on their golf tour.(\__/)
