There's a difference between approving of something, and allowing people to do something that you disapprove.

The last is what tolerance is all about.

I'd argue that the Netherlands was one of the first Western cultures. For a start it is in Western Europe, secondly we were one of the ones exporting European values across the globe in the 16th-17th century and we had one of the largest/most valuable set of colonies in the business.

We were at the forefront of a lot that Western society stand for, such as capitalism (exploitation of Indonesia, slave trade), exploration (Tasmania, New Zealand, founded New York etc. etc.), enlightment (highly tolerant of jews, non-religious art etc) and is one of the main centres where the protestant faith (especially Calvinistic strands) as developed.

And not even mentioning recent developments (forefront of EU and NATO, "liberalisation" of drugs/sex/euthanasia (i.e. removing the government from the home)).

As for the video, it's a citizenship test. If you don't stand for the ideals that made the Netherlands why should you be able to become Dutch.

I think he meant that if topless bathing apparently is part of Western culture, he wondered when Holland really became "Western" given that criterium.

I think the video is stupid, the test is moronic and the immigration minister is a good-for-nothing cold-hearted ***** (as a minister, I'm sure she's just swell in person ). I'll be much happier when the socialists win the next elections next year like they did the local elections this month.

Hey, we have enough of these scary looking people already. They all talk funny, they all eat strange stuff, they all watch stupid tv programs with their ugly looking satellite dishes and they are all going to their mosques that are sprouting all over the (our!) place.

I miss the times when we were a proud white nation of hard working calvinists.
