  • Dallas has released Keyshawn Johnson.

So both the bad boy WRs are unemployed (for now).

If Dallas signs TO, does that mean it'll be OK for him to pose on the star after TDs?

          • Why would NO go for Brees when it could have gotten Young? *shrug*

But Detroit also signed Corey Bradford, another fricken wide receiver. WR's grow on trees in Detroit it seems. Grr, we need to be spending money on getting a decent line, not more WRs.

But he seems to be a vet with a good work ethic, so maybe he is brought in just to mentor all our lazy, young talent at that position, which would be a smart move.

As for Kitna.. they still say Harrington is their man. But it never hurts to have a plan B.

            • Well, NO could still draft Young (or Leinart). Give Brees that incentive to recover quickly & play well.

              • Brees is a steady, established performer with a cool head. Young and Leinart are unproven. why wait 1-5 years for your #1 pick QB to pan out when you can have a sure (well, kinda sure, given the torn labrum) thing?

NO has been the most talented .500 team in the NFL for several years. Grabbing Brees sends a message that they want to win now (while they still have solid skill position players). Now they can use that #2 overall pick to trade down for quality depth -- like replacing their starting center.

They will probably not release Aaron Brooks until they are assured Brees is healthy.

I find it odd that Daunte wants out of Minnesota, since they just hired one of the most QB-friendly coaches in the NFL. But apparently the team is good with that. And for both Daunte and Favre to disappear from the division in the same year is almost too good to be true for Bears fans.

Prediction: Miami rejects Culpepper after medical exam and trades for the New Orleans pick. Daunte kisses and makes up in Minny.

Bingo. I agree 100%. I'll take Brees over someone like Young, who may not pan out (he's got question marks). And NO needs more than a QB. This may allow them to get a LOT of picks by trading down. Trade with the Titans or Jets (who get Leinart), then deal down even further for someone who wants D'Brickshaw.

Apparently (and I'm hearing this from sports talk radio, so may be totaly bull****), but he's still pissed at Childress for advocating picking McNabb over him in the draft where they both came out.

                    • Unless they deal up to get Leinart.

And I've been hearing that Young could drop all the way to the Raiders.

                      • Isn't McNair his uncle or something? They'll go Young. Just my opinion. Not worth much.

                        • Oh, and about Keyshawn. While he always has had a big mouth, he always performed on the field and never took plays off. Definetly not nearly the same as T.O. I wouldn't mind the Falcons picking him up to teach the young recievers a few things.

                            • Just for fun, the 5 QBs drafted in the first 12 picks in 1999, the Year of the QB:

                              1. Tim Couch CLE
                              2. Donovan McNabb PHI
                              3. Akili Smith CIN
                              11. Daunte Culpepper MIN
                              12. Cade McNown CHI

So apparently Culpepper believes he would have made it to the Super Bowl if he was drafted #2 overall by Philly in '99?

And I guess it's safe to say Daunte won't be hooking up with Cinci anytime soon. And he must really hate the Bears. They traded down to avoid drafting him.

                              And got Cade McNown.

As I recall, Daunte was considered the least predictable of the group, since he played at a small college (Central Florida iirc). And no one really believed a 260 pound man could play QB in the NFL. McNown? He was considered the "most ready to start now" because of his good mechanics and coming from a pro-style offense.

Shows what a crapshoot it is with QBs in the draft.

                              • Sloww -- Tennesse wants Leinart, to reunite him with his O-coordinator, Norman Chow.

If anyone else (Jets) wants Leinart, they have to trade with NO. I'm predicting a bidding war -- since Young has so many question marks.
