There is a reason the Rams signed him to a big deal. He was a one of the top safeties in the game. It was after a season or a season an a half with the Rams when he begun to slide.

Unless you are contending that the Rams dropped big money on a player who was fading?

        No. Faded = skills diminishing.

          • Have the Cards won anything yet? Have they been to the playoffs while he's been there? So how can he 'fade' if 'to fade' means 'to win'?

Snoopy seemed to be saying he'll lose popularity:

As long as they play in Arizona, they're not going to win. Thus, they'll be obscure in the only way that really matters ...

a faded name, I guess. Most people use faded in reference to skill. For example, even though his team was successful and he played a part, Jerome Bettis faded a great deal from his heyday in the late 90s, early 00's.

Last year Corey Dillon faded, etc.

injuries tend to do that to a person

although Dillon just came off a career year the year before with the Pats... rushing for a career high 1,600 yards and winning the Super Bowl...

seems like to write Dillon off as "fading" you need more than just an injury plagued season

but hey, that just more of Imran's nuggest of football wisdom for you folks

the point is (since it seems to be escaping you)... his "fading" is not the product of his skills diminishing... but INJURIES

I would think even you would realize that injuries diminish skills. When you have a nagging injury, that hasn't healed, you don't function at your top level. Perhaps when it fully healed, you can go back to your top level, but sometimes you don't get over and continue to fade, like Eddie George.

                      • The Ravens have announced the signings of two RBs -- Mike Anderson (ex-Broncos) and Jamal Lewis.

I believe just about all the decent RBs are now spoken for.

                        • Getting older makes it harder to recover from injuries. Also in Eddie George's case, he saw heavy use and surpassed C(f) - the number of career carries after which a RB fades. Most RBs will reach that by the time they're 30.

                            Yes. All this is possible.

But with Dillon, there isn't enough of a "sample size" to determine whether or not his skills have diminished.

All that can be said for certain is that he has had one poor season due to injuries.

You have jumped to a conclusion without enough necessary information.

It's entirely possible that Dillon will come back and have a good season for the Patriots next year.

And what will you say then? Will you admit you were wrong?

No, because Imran is never wrong, is he?

And if Dillon plays poorly next season, you will be "right". But only by chance. Not because of any great feat of football analysis on your part.

It's like claiming I am a psychic if I guess a coin flip.

His skills weren't diminished last year? I mean he only had the worse Y/A in his career. What are you smoking, Sava?

Dillion faded last year from the prior year. Whether he can come back remains to be seen.
