Jets are in prime position to pick one of the big QBs in this draft. Pennington gets hurt often (and who knows if he is well) and Fielder was hurt last year and will probably will released. Ramsey will probably stick around as a backup or until the drafted QB is ready to take over.

Good pickup, IMO. Especially for a 7th round pick.

      • It was a 6th round pick, but you're otherwise right, Ramsey is insurance.

Edit: Dispute over clause in the offer sheet Minnesota signed Hutchinson to. Going to arbitration.

If Ramsey had experienced even one iota of success in the NFL, or had maybe 3 more years in the league, I'd agree.

Why does he need it? He's just going to be a backup.

            • then what's the point? sign a scrap heap back up, save the pick, and if things go to hell, play the drafted qb. 1st year head coach, lower expectations.

It's a 6th round draft pick. It's not like you get much value from that spot. I would argue that Ramsey is much more valuable than a 6th round pick.

That's quite a few requirements, but I think you're probably right.

                    • Pennington isn't a bad QB. Whoever is QB in NY is going to spend half the game looking at the sky.

                      • I can't imagine the Jets trying to draft another QB yet. Pennington, Ramsey, and Young/Cutler is too much of a logjam. (I assume that Leinart will be gone before the Jets get their pick)

                          • Actually, they've been talking with NO to get Leinhart. The rumor is they want to get rid of Pennington soon. He makes a ton of money (due to his extension right before he first got injured), and hasn't healed very well.

He would certainly be an upgrade in QB depth...
