It really is ok to say that you oppose the death penalty on moral grounds without bringing up race which hasn't been shown to be a factor in this case.

A man was murdered last night.

Remember that the death penalty doesn't cover all states. It would be interesting to see what the racial make up of the states which carried out the death penalty is especially since a disproportionate number of those states are in the south where the black population is highest. There likely isn't a huge racial disparity effecting blacks in the death penalty. At least not as large as some people are implying.

More likely it corrolates most strongly with social class and location (i.e. urban areas) instead of race though clearly more blacks live in poor urban areas then there are blacks in the general population.

Yep, that's a good point, there are 5 particular geogrpahic areas that carry out the death penatly more than others, and in those areas, they are more racist than in general.

I think liberal america is carrying around a lot of guilt for being white. And they are overcompensating by going soft on people we should not be going soft on. And I'm talking about murderers here (not black people)
