BTW, Ramo, are you familiar with the Herndon Day Labor center issue? fascinating stuff.

Herndon is this small, suburban town, sort of on the edge between the affluent inner suburbs (the 5 bathroom belt) and the middle class outer suburbs of DC. Now they have a lot of hispanic immigrants who live in the older walkup apartment complexes, like most of the suburbs around here. The men tend to show up at the local 7-11 each morning, looking for casual work - they get picked up by building contractors, homeowners needing gardening help, and the like. Well people got tired of the loitering around the 7-11, in a residential area, and wanted to build a town day labor center. So folks across the region, of a certain bent, started screaming how Herndon is subsidizing illegal immigrants. Which Jerry Kilgore has latched onto.

I'm not just going by ads. My initial reaction was actually the same as yours, but I was talking to my dad about it later. He's leaning Kilgore, but barely. (He voted for Warner.)

It's amazing that Kilgore's running so heavily on illegals immigrants. I mean it's VA; how many can y'all possibly have? Hell, it's hispanic population can't be more than a few percent. Then again, there aren't enough hispanics for there to be much of a backlash to this strategy electorally, so I suppose there's little cost for Kilgore. But I applaud him for helping to make the Republican brand less viable in the future.

Think again. NoVA is 11% hispanic and rising.

What's your point? NoVA isn't all of VA.

Persons of Hispanic or Latino origin, percent definition and source info Persons of Hispanic or Latino origin, percent, 2000 (b) 4.7%

                            that's fine...

                            because Virginia is irrelevant

                              It's the important bit

All of the Virginians on this board are from NoVA anyway AFAIK.

It's 12th in population and in GDP.
