And that the Democrats picked up seats in the state legislature and snatched the Attorney General's seat?

Come on, even Repugs are acknowledging that VA is trending more blue every year, what with the influx of middle class progressive types into Northern Virginia.

You don't think they suffered from guilt by association?

Oh, and more excellent news. For those following the Dover, PA "Intelligent Design" case:

Just days after the close of testimony in the Kitzmiller et al. v. Dover Area School Board case, the people got a chance to put in their two cents via school board elections, choosing between the incumbents with their “intelligent design policy”, or the contenders of the Dover CARES campaign. The results, courtesy of the York Dispatch:

          ----- Dover -----
          B Reinking Dem. 2754
H Mc Ilvaine, Jr. Dem. 2677
          B Rehm Dem. 2625
          T Emig Dem. 2716
          A Bonsell Rep. 2469
          J Cashman Rep. 2526
          S Leber Rep. 2584
          E Rowand Rep. 2547

          2-Year Term
          L Gurreri Dem. 2623
          P Dapp Dem. 2670
          J Mc Ilvaine Dem. 2658
          E Riddle Rep. 2545
          R Short Rep. 2544
          S Harkins Rep. 2466

          2-Year Unexp
          P Herman Dem. 2542
          D Napierskie Rep. 2516

          6 Out of 6 precincts

The Democratic slate contains the challengers to the current board members.

This is the same state legislature that worked up the 2/3's majority necessary to override Warner's line-item veto of the unconstitutional parts of an anti-gay marriage bill banning any contract "purporting to give the benefits of marriage to a same-sex couple" or something like that.

              With Kilgore? I doubt it.

With Bush? Perhaps. But that is much less likely a factor in small local races and less-prominent statewide offices than in, say, the governor's race.

So what? Do you honestly think voters went to the polls over this (which occured how long ago)?

No. My point was that the legislature is still pretty right-wing, whatever ground the Democrats are gaining.

Bush specifically came and campaigned for Kilgore.

So what? Tides don't shift overnight, you know. It takes time for a shifting electorate to be properly reflected by political representation.

Yes, I'm well aware of that. Again I say, so?

I don't quite get what you're trying to say. You asked me if I felt the lesser state candidates were hurt by "association." I wasn't sure with whom you meant, but in the end, no, I don't think they really were. Such associations tend to have minimal impact on the more local elections.

btw Kuci, you bit on my trolls nicely before...

if you didn't realize, I would have preferred it if you could have voted in this election because you would have voted with the Democrat candidate

                          but thanks for playing

Lately a lot of places are "going blue" due to general Republican incompetence.

You're subtly changing the argument already. The Republican losses in the state legislature are irrelevant. Your first post used the example of Kaine's victory as evidence of a broad political trend. My argument is not that the trend doesn't exist, so "proving" it to me is a waste of your time. Other victories for the Democrats don't validate your example. Kaine won because he came across as a decent human being, and Kilgore came across as spiteful and angry. I've seen about four or five different Kilgore advertisements, and I could tell that they were going to hurt him.

I'd be leaning Kaine. I like Kaine in general, but Kilgore's traffic plans are of particular impact to me, and that might outweigh the other issues.

Deeds has taken a lead of ~1,500 votes (.07%), with 21 precincts uncounted. So we might see the parties exchange the Lt. Gov and AG offices.

It looks like all the CA props will go down except possibly 75 (besides 73, the worst one IMO), but even that seems unlikely at this point (only 1% of LA has been reproted).
