Over thousand cars burned last night in France, some shots on cops, fortunately no one died.
Seems to me that from some nights ago, the rioters are out there because they just want to tear places up.
Hey, if you want to protest, if you want to get heard in mroe physical way, do on day time. Why you have to do it always at night? Oh that's right, because most of the PUNKS and THUGS who are still breaking property are at sleep during the day because they don't work. Some of them wants to, most of them wouldn't even if they got the chance.
The ones who started being pissed off, hey, it happens. But the ones who are now playing are youth, ****ing punks who need to get shot in the head with REAL bullets from next night on. It has passed the acceptable line a long time ago.
"I don't go to school and I can't read because France is such a 3rd world country that is racist, and because of my religion/colour of skin I didn't get the opportunity to go to first grade, now I can't get a job because of it either, I'm pissed off it's because of France and it's racist policies against me and damn it I know it's not my fault at all I'm such a loser so I'm going to burn few cars tomorrow right because it's my right to do so".
Burn my car and DIE like the scum you are you POS thugs. Riot when it's daylight. Don't be such pussies. France needs to get the tough police out. They had their chance to riot a little and quit it. No more mr nice guy. Kill few of them. See if they get more angry or scared. If mroe angry, kill bunch of more. They get the message.
In da butt.

To anyone with an ounce of sense, it's very clear that you're hitting the nail on the head. Unfortunately, as you can see from this thread, all a lot of people are really interested in is the fact that immigrants (even second generation ones) are involved, in order to prop up their existing beliefs.
He blames the economic predicament and the attitude of the rioters almost entirely on white racism in that post. Doesn't the culture of the rioters and the gulf between the cultures of those who live outside the cites and those within have something to do with the problem? Is it possible that immigrants from societies that look almost entirely like failures (to western eyes at least) bring with them some of their own cultural values which clash with the dominant culture and make those who hold them demonstrably poorer employees? Is a false assumption about another's culture racism? How about a correct assumption?
He's got the Midas touch.
But he touched it too much!
Hey Goldmember, Hey Goldmember!
A church was set ablaze in the southern fishing town of Sete and another in nearby Lens, Pas de Calais; two schools in the southeastern town of Saint-Etienne and a police station in the central France town of Clermont-Ferrand were torched, as was a social center in Seine-Saint-Denis, near the border with Switzerland.

I don't understand the absence of tanks, whatever the french national guard is called, mass tear gassings...?
If that were my neighbourhood or an american one I'm sure we'd have formed a local self-defence group if the police are too incompetant.
But I guess 'les Grenouille' are more content to let the cities burn, that disaffected, beret-wearing, black-clad existential philosophy thing I guess. Foucault would probably call it an 'elivening display of active energy' or something.

Ok then. Thanks for telling me what I think.
Nope.
Telling you what you think might be saying something like you're a racist who likes to blame social unrest in western countries on muslim immigrants, that you despise them and want to stop them from infesting your country like vermin in ever increasing numbers and that they should go back from whence they came. Or something like that.
Oerdin: You think the rioters need to be "shown who is boss"?
I think the fact that they are rioting makes it abundantly clear that they KNOW who is boss.
Of course the rioting cannot be tolerated, and the police must stop it.
But that is not the answer.
The article Drake linked us to was excellent.
People don't act like that without reasons. Reasons are not the same thing as justifications; the destruction of property is not justified, but if you want to prevent it from reoccuing some time in the future, you better be willing to understand and address the causes.
People must be valued members of society who feel that they are contributing, who feel that their contributions are recognized.
You cannot keep them marginalized, unemployed, and without opportunity.
I'd like to think that might be able to wait until they've quelled the rioters.

Meanwhile a man who fell into a coma after being beaten last week is thought to be the first fatality of the unrest.
Jean-Jacques Le Chenadec, 61, was reportedly struck by a hooded man in the street after he and a neighbour went to inspect damage to bins near their apartment block in the town of Stains, in the Seine-Saint-Denis region outside Paris.
His widow has been received by Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy.
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
I was talking about this with some people, and one pointed out that what makes this different from a typical US riot is that people don't have guns, thus limiting damage to property.
