          How petty.

Of course, I may be forced to go into Thessalonica first - It seems more likely that I would get a flight from Vienna to there than getting one to Skopje.

UN List of Member States (yeah, that's the page you linked to), empasis by me
By resolution A/RES/47/225 of 8 April 1993, the General Assembly decided to admit as a Member of the United Nations the State being provisionally referred to for all purposes within the United Nations as "The former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia" pending settlement of the difference that had arisen over its name.
            You were saying?

Edit: Strangely enough, Macedonia/FYROM is listed under the T for "The former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia".

It's not nationalism. Greek nationalism pales before Fyromian. But it is a breach of agreement. You might have noticed that Greece opposes the use of the name Macedonia for Skopjie/FYROM??!!!

BTW :Phew: reassuring that you're indeed american

That alone would excuse all past a few future Swedish invasions of Norway.
Why can't you be a non-conformist just like everybody else?

It is. And they are. But if you come from a country which doesn't exist (Macedonia) then of course you'll have problems. If you came from FYROM then there wouldn't be a problem.

I don't think you'll have a problem even if you enter from FYROM with a stamp writing Macedonia in your passport. But double check at the american consulate in Athens to be sure. That's because you have a non EU passport.

If relations have been normalized, that requires Greece to at least recognize the existence of the other country.

Are you serious? I'm sure they have non-EU people who go from one country to another all the time. You would think that they would have worked this out by now.

"Yes" is not very informative when it does not follow a question.
