Health care costs keep going up and taking a chunk out of the paycheck.
Moreover, its a wedge that would allow them to swing middle-class suburbanites back into their column, which is all it would take to become the majority party again.

So I'm sure they'll spend all their time instead responding to GOP assertions that they favor mandatory abortions, but only for straight women.

You're 100% of course, it always comes down to the lowest common denominator.

I am laughing at the abortion comment, but the other half of me is sad because I know how sad but true it is.

Actually, if Roe v Wade is overturned it could do the Dems a lot of good on that front while doing very little harm to women's rights (since abortion would be quickly liberalized anyway).

I don't disagree with most of what you said, but this has to be an oversimplification.

It's a contributing factor but not the only one; obviously our deep-fried diet also plays a big role.

Or people that work overtime because it's the only way to make ends meet. Full time jobs that don't pay enough for a person to live on are exploitative.

Yep. All this *****ing from Americans about how long they work just sounds like ***** whining when you work in a Japanese office. Twelve hour days are practically the norm here.

I have yet to encounter any one of "the people" who was in favor of folks like me working less. Au contraire, most folks seem to expect their doctor to work 24/7. If you think about it, it's everyday people who really fuel the demand for longer working hours. Here in the USA we expect everything to be available to us on the spur of the moment.

                        Overtime... what's that

I work long hours, and I don't care. While I may not get overtime pay.. my salary, profit sharing, and bonuses more than make up for it. I have a job to do, and I do it.
And for that, I get paid very well for it.

If you don't want to work the extra time... and dedicate yourself to your career... fine, your decision... but don't expect to be paid like somebody that does.

If I work hard, my company makes more money, and then, so do I. If I were to be lazy (like it sounds like some people here are), the company would make less money... and then, so would I.

So stop your whining. If you don't like the hours you have to work... just quit. But be ready to make less money. Your choice.

Yeah, except this generation of Japanese men don't have that long lifespan.

I think it's inevitable. I don't see why you're really all that in favor of it, though - as soon as it's overturned the entire antiabortion movement will collapse as people discover that abortions are, in fact, legal. I suppose it's a lose-lose situation for your side.

That's a rather interesting comment, given that I currently reside in Canada.

Kuci, prolifers are not deterred by the legal status of abortion, to them, abortion is an unjust law that needs to be changed. If they were deterred, wouldn't they have just folded up tents long ago?
